Todays game against top quality forwards will tell us a lot as to how he has progressed and how he copes with that atmosphere when under pressure, but i also accept he is still very much a novice that will be under the cosh. But also what will make this game interesting is seeing and comparing potentially Englands 2 best young RB's.

I think we only saw a few weeks ago against Man city and up against one of the best wingers in the world as to how far he's progressed.

Just because he's young I wouldn't say he's a novice, I'd say he's one of the best full backs in the league. He does still however have bags of potential.

A lot of fanciful talk of any transfer fee he may attract. Full backs generally don't go for big money, Walker was an exception, but he was an established international in a top 4 team. Transfer fees are going to decline as the TV money will decline soon from over exposure.
There is a strange desire amongst Palace fans to sell their best assets over the years, not that we have had many and generally get ripped off ie Clyne, Samson etc.

In fairness the City game was a One off result including our performance, i take nothing away from our performance that day as incredibly for a change we did NOT sit back and absorb pressure, instead we pressed them and got a result, and that is what we need to do today as this again is a game we are expected to get hammered.
Again i will say it will prove interesting for the fans to compare the Two outstanding young English Full Backs, and then they will be able to see which one is worth 90m

What are you talking about? He's played against all the top teams home and away in the last 12 months and kept the left winger quiet. He has nothing to prove.

Are you honestly saying he is the finished article? i am not disputing he is an outstanding talent and have always said so, but you could not be further from the truth in saying he has nothing to prove?
Surely you have noticed when he has been caught out of position but also at times when he leaves his man that he is supposed to be tracking back, yes offcourse he makes mistakes as we all do, but it shows and even he would admit he is still learning his trade.

Quote where anyone here has said he's the finished article? All that has simply been said is he is the best young right back in the world along with Trent Alexander-Arnold and if Kyle Walker is worth 50m at 27 then AWB is worth substantially more. He's played over a year of Premier League football and the stats back up that he's one of the best right backs in the league. You seem to think he's still got to prove himself at Premier League level and maybe you haven't watched many of our games but you would struggle to count his bad performances on one hand. He has proven himself to be good enough to play for a top 6 team already.

Its completely irrelevant as big clubs will be in for him for the potential alone. Some may even prefer he be unfinished so they can develop him themselves.

Yes because that's always stopped players going in the past. No player ever leaves a club unless it's on a free transfer at the end of their contract.

Let’s face it, someone would be paying him 50k per week if he was to go.
Lock him down to a decent long term contract and enjoy him whilst he’s here.
Worst case is we get a decent fee.

If we are going to constantly allow him to maraud into the opposition's half, leaving our entire defence exposed for lack of pace, we may as well sell him. Time and time again it's happening. West Ham nearly scored at least once from such a counter attack. PVA can go forward. AWB must hold back. He is too valuable to our centre backs, especially with Luka's lack of pace on top of that. AWB is holding the defence together when he is in position.

On the couple of occasions in the first half where West Ham broke down the left ending up in shots from Snodgrass and Hernandez there was cover there. You have to counter it with the number of occasions AWB linked up with Townsend to provide a threat down the right. Townsend likes to come inside so we do need that wider man.

My only concern would be that he has been booked in each of his last 3 games.

Currently, he probably wouldn't suit Liverpool as they require their fullbacks to be a key source of creative input due to a narrow 3, though he would add an extra dimension both defensively and offensively to Man Utd

1. Final ball - in a team like Palace he is required to defend first, however his final ball and chipping in with the odd goal would be expected. This can come through coaching and also playing in a team that puts him in the position to deliver x5 more times per game than we do.

2. Throw-ins - I told you I was being picky! His throw-ins are generally poor. This will come in experience. By poor, there is an art in throwing it to the teammates correct foot and the right pace.

As for the topic of sale, in terms of where we are as a club as fantastic as he is, a Right Back is replaceable. With this in mind, offers of 45m + with % sell on would be hard to turn down.
This was posted by myself a month or so ago. Both points still stand.

He definitely didn't look as comfortable after being booked which is fair enough I guess with the way he tackles.

obviously I don't want to see AWB leave, put we've been crippled basically with lack of income over he last few seasons, if selling AWB means it would bring the wage bill into control and possibly loosen up the purse strings we need to consider it for the long term (only if we could identify and bring in a new RB prior to selling him that is!)

I can't imagine selling AWB would bring the wage bill under control. I doubt he is a big earner compared to the rest of the squad. We'd get a big wad of money, but it wouldn't control the wages that we're still spending.

It's the likes of Sahko, Meyer, Zaha and Benteke who are on big money.

You have to look at Man City buying Walker, Stones and Mendy for 50m. Liverpool buying Van Dijk from Southampton for 75m. These are all players who were bought in their peak. Wan-Bissaka has the potential on his side, which raises his price even more.

I'd feel underwhelmed if we sold AWB at 50m. I don't think its enough in todays market.

For his own development I think he needs another year with us as a regular starter. I think it would be a mistake for him personally to move on.
