There seems to be a reasonable amount of interest in him at least.

Hungarian paper has not even written about the Roda deal. I know that Torghelles big dream is to play in the Premiership so I think if it would up to him he would pick Palace.

He is very aggressive some time to aggressive, He lose is head too easy and then he gets easy booked.
He has been banned for 5-6 games this season. He has scored 9 goals in MTK this season.
He works very hard. He is not too quick. but the reason might be that Hungarian Premier League is very slow the players are hardly running.
MTK played against Celtic in the Champion League Qualifying round and lost at home with 4-0, and then you can imagine how good the league is.
He were only sub in the Hungarian national team until he scored from the bench against Brazil since then he is playing.
I have not seen any Palace games last season because Hungarian TVs shows only English Premier League matches on TV, so I do not know if he is better then your forwards.

Aggressive eh? Sounds like a certain demi-god type figure currently managing our club. Nice.

According to Sky Sports News ID is now in Budapest with "Palace officials" for talks with Torghelle. It is "believed" terms have been agreed between the clubs.

Friendly international

Germany - Hungary 0:2
[Sandor Torghelle '7, '31]

Hungary: Hungary: 1-Gabor Kiraly; 8-Zoltan Szelesi, 3-Szabolcs Huszti (16-Boldizsar Bodor 90), 5-Peter Stark, 4-Roland Juhasz, 7-Denes Rosa, 2-Laszlo Bodnar, 6-Andras Toth, 10-Zoltan Gera (14-Gabor Gyepes 89), 9-Sandor Torghelle, 11-Leandro (17-Balazs Toth 63).

Germany travel to the 2004 European championships on a flat note after an inexperienced Hungary side triumphed 2-0 here on Sunday.

It was a match to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1954 World Cup final, when Germany defeated Hungary 3-2 in Bern, but the tables were turned with German legend Lothar Matthaus, capped a record 150 times by his country, inspiring Hungary to a famous victory.

"This was the miracle of Kaiserslautern not Bern," enthused Matthaus. "Despite countless people pulling out we have beaten one of the best teams in the world."

Matthaus was Rudi Voller's captain when the pair won the 1990 World Cup but there was no room for sentiment as Hungary inflicted an untimely loss on Voller in his 50th match in charge, whilst casting some doubt over a German rearguard that has to face an attacking Holland team in nine days time in Oporto.

The 36,590 fans at the Fritz-Walter Stadium expected Germany to take the game to the inexperienced Hungarians - with eight of the starting 11 with less than 10 caps to their name - but with 120 seconds gone Hungary almost took the lead.

Sandor Torghelle, 22, powered down on goal after a straight ball down the middle caught the hosts out and a great reflex stop was needed from Oliver Kahn.

But on seven minutes Kahn was helpless as Torghelle made amends leaving Christian Worns flat-footed with a swift turn and firing a fierce shot past Kahn.

"Our concentration was poor and we got punished," said Voller. "But our future is by no means bleak and I am sure we will perform well in Portugal. You want to win every game but we have to think about next week."

Germany looked at their most dangerous whipping balls into the penalty area - clearly the Achilles heel of Hungary - with a Philipp Lahm centre missed by two onrushing German attackers.

With 31 minutes on the clock Michael Ballack, a favourite at this stadium from his formative years at Kaiserslautern, fell to the ground in search of a penalty but English referee Steve Benett waved play on and it proved costly for the hosts.

Hungary launched a blitz counter attack and Torgelle controlled a diagonal ball on his chest before dinking an effort over Kahn.

Dutch strikers Roy Makaay, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Patrick Kluivert will be watching the wayward German marking with interest as Holland meet Germany on June 15 in Oporto.

"We have to show that we are the second best team in the world going into Portugal," said captain Kahn. "We did not show that today."

Ballack, 27, should have scored 60 seconds later but blazed over after showing close control in the box.

A chorus of jeers met the half-time whistle drowning out the jubilant Hungarian visiting contingent.

Voller hauled off Kaiserslautern's Miroslav Klose and Andreas Hinkel in the interval replacing them with Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger, making his debut, and Hannover striker Thomas Bradric.

After a stern talking to Germany came out with fire in their bellies and almost halved their deficit when Bernd Schneider's cross found Fredi Bobic but the marksman's extravagant flick went narrowly wide of the goal.

On the hour mark Hungary captain Zoltan Gera almost made it 3-0 but his outstreched boot failed to connect with a cross from the right.

Schweinsteiger and Bradric both should have scored late on but Hungary held on for a famous win.

PALACE MAKE MOVE FOR TORGHELLE

Premiership new boys Crystal Palace are believed to be lining up a swoop for Hungarian international striker Sandor Torghelle.

Eagles boss Iain Dowie is keen to bolster his attacking options and he feels Torghelle could fire the goals to keep the club in The Premiership next term.

Torghelle came to Dowie's attention after his two-goal showing in the 2-0 win over Germany prior to Euro 2004.

Dutch side Roda JC were thought to be favourites for the 22-year-old's signature after agreeing terms with his club MTK Budapest.

But sources in Hungary suggest Palace are leading the chase for Torghelle and that a deal could be tied up soon.

Dowie is reported to have flown out to Budapest to hold talks with the player and he could become their first signing of the summer if the discussions go well.

You can't go wrong at 300k, wages can't be a problem as he'll be well within the current structure. The other great thing is that it isn't Attila Gera the filthy Fradista scum bag!

Pronounciaton:

S is always Sh as in Shipperley

O is always aw as in paw / law

Sh-and-aw-r T-aw-rgele

Personally I think he needs 3 or 4 months in the reserves before he'll be ready for English let alone Premier League football.
