It does have the disadvantage of being R G Noades owned though...

Sutton news: Ex Palace striker-Andrew Martin is training with Sutton with a view to a possible move, after being released by Hornchurch. Ryan Palmer is set to leave to join Crawley. Not a good summer for the U's

1-0 defeat at home to Margate, Monday night at Colsten Avenue.

Carshalton played a lot better last night than on Saturday, but couldn't get a share of the spoils which their efforts deserved.

A goal on 30 min from Adrian Clarke earned Margate maximum points, but if not for their defiance at the back Margate; clearing the ball off their line on 3 occasions, Carshalton should have had something from the game and if they had equalised, perhaps gone on to win.

The first half was shaded by Margate, creating a few more chances and holding onto the ball more often but in the 2nd half Carshalton went at 'em like a pack of dogs on the hunt. Having camped for most of the time in the Margate half of the pitch the Robins threatened again and again but each time a blue shirt stood in the way.

Margate were resilient not to let the lead slip and closed down Carshalton at every opportunity taking advantage of Carshalton numbers in their half to quickly counterattack and create a few more chances themselves to seal victory which kept Stuart Searle and his back line busy and on their toes.

In the end Carshalton were extremely disappointed to walk away empty handed for all their efforts but the season is long and winding and as long as the players remain resolute in their ability, their first win of the season will not be far away. Hopefully this coming Saturday when they welcome Bishop's Stortford.

P.S where is AddiscombeEagle?? this thread has gone distinctly stale!

Definitely should have got something out of the Margate game, it was all Carshalton possession wise in the second half.

Missed two good close range chances and also had two cleared off the line. I was a little baffled that McDonnell was chosen ahead of Cooper, for me it's got the be the Cooper/Stone partnership that starts (the latter had a good game on Monday).

Still, they were a Conference outfit last year so I guess it's encouraging that the team can more than hold their own. The much travelled Rocky Baptiste was the main threat.

Good to see young Sam Saunders play well again too, he really is coming along nicely in the midfield.

A well deserved 2-1 win for the mighty Robins yesterday, who despite missing flying young winger Sam Saunders through injury, and starting with McDonnell and Coooper on the bench, outplayed highly fancied Havant and Waterlooville (who included Dean Holdsworth, experienced 'keeper Gareth Howells and midfielder Geoff Pitcher in their lineup).

Another good performance from striker Adrian Stone, and Des Boateng caught the eye in midfield yesterday as well I thought.

Even Bromley managed a win so I hear

I am back from holiday and finally will get to watch the Robins this Saturday followed by finding a local pub and watching the Palace. All in all, it should be a pretty good saturday.

Interesting to see how Hornchurch play, saw them play us twice last year, and they didn't impress me that much.

Went to see the Robins on Saturday. They were completely outclassed first half and but then had a lot better second half, hitting the bar twice, and missing a few sitters. Unlucky to lose 2-0 in the end.

Funny thing was the ref did exactly the same as in the Fulham match. He gave Carshalton a pen in the 1st minute, only to consult the lino after hornchurch protested and change his mind.
