For me it's Floyd. Not on a technical scale but the sheer song writing ability of Waters. Emotional guitar playing of Gilmour plus he is widely considered one of if not the best guitarist ever. Richard wright is regarded as one of the greatest keyboardists and Nick Mason played perfectly to the rhythm of the band although live he was a monster. If not the most gifted which you could argue I don't think there has ever been a band more creative. These guys basically dominated the 70s were anti pop nobody knew what they looked like even their albums didn't have there names on it during their most successful period. To sell what they sold and create what they created while taking an anti pop stance and basically limiting there own audience is a testament to how good they really were. Some love them some hate them but they created albums not songs a patient listener loves them. People who like to skip a track wont it's down to taste really.

As a band they enjoyed great success, still playing in various guises, but as solo session musicians they were probably the most proficient and employed group ever.
Members of Toto have appeared as guest musicians on over 1000 recordings, so they are obviously regarded by other musicians as the top of their trade. Good call!
