I think there has to be an election now. BJ didn't get Brexit by 31 October, and won't promise no deal so the Brexit Party will take a lot of votes off the Tories.

The remain vote in marginals will go to either Labour or Lib Dems, depending on who will win.

At this point to stop Brexit a general election is the way IMO.

Can we run a sweep on how many times Johnson will appear on a combination of: Today, Andrew Neill & TV debates vs other party leaders? Can you rig it so I get zero?

Talk that Macron may only allow for a 'technical delay' which I assume means a short one while parliament resolves issues surrounding the withdrawal bill.

It's not really comparable.

Iain Duncan-Smith asked whether the bill could continue on the basis Parliament sits through the weekend and around the clock until it was done. Rees-Mogg said that the House of Lords would also have to sit and given the time already lost it was unlikely that the 31 October deadline could be met.

Anyway back to the debate of the Queen's Speech tomorrow and Thursday.

Surely the correct thing to do is to continue with this bill, and with a realistic timetable? The delay may only be one month, if it s a good bill?

Two interesting bits tonight in the fall out....

Katya Adler tweeting and being on the 10 saying that the EU frustration is being aimed at BJ not Parliament and that British politicians generally using Brexit as a vehicle for their wider ambition etc.

Secondly, Tories running as campaign that they are trying to deliver Brexit and Labour is thwarting it - aiming at seats held by.......Labour MPs who voted with them, just like they shafted the LDs post coalition....seems there are some very naive Labour MPs who are now seeing chickens sitting on their houses.

Correct thing? Depends on what your objective is. Johnson's objective now is a GE and Labour will look very foolish if they continue to block it.

But why is it? Why wouldn’t he continue to try to pass the bill? Is the bill only any good if Parliament only has three days to debate it? It’s incomprehensible.

Labour are going to need to front up sometime but Corbyn offered to work with the government on the timetable. He knows this deal is popular and wants to draw out the scrutiny without rejecting it. Ideally with Labours help, Brexit will be done before the next election.

It is the SNP that are key now - the EU are correct about Johnson wanting an election and the SNP can make that happen.

I think Johnson will present himself as the man of the people who has been knocked back time and time again by judges and Parliament, but who won't give up until he has delivered for the people.

He is the new Rocky. "He get's knocked down But he get's up again"

If there is anyone who can pull it off it's Johnson. I imagine tonight he is confident of a GE win and a decent majority with the result that dozens of fawning Tory MPs will give him whatever he wants.

BBE, you normally post so well, and I maybe drunk which obviously impairs, but I am struggling to comprehend the above.

Please clarify for the over imbibed before somnolent dribble on pillow ensues
