Ticket Prices

How do I put this succinctly.....WTF!

I've had a season ticket for the past 3-4 seasons so I've been out of tthe casual fandom game for a while now but I swear last time I was going to a handful of games a season I could pick tickets up for £25-£30??

They want £40 minimum to go and watch us toil against Southampton on a Tuesday night! It's ludicrous. When did the prices ramp up to that extent? I'm sure it can't be supply and demand because the ground never seems sold out like it was in the first few years back in the Prem...

I know what you mean! Price structure changed from A/B to 5/4/3/2/1 this season which probably makes it a bit pricier to get a decent seat, but it had crept up a bit over the past couple of seasons anyway. The creep upwards and now the new categories probs seems like an extra hike

It is too much, tempting just to buy an away ticket if on sale on the night for £30 or less if an away fan hasn't turned up and their mates just flog it off cheap enough!

If you can't find an away one (or don't want to!), you can always get a Cat 5 home ticket and move to quite a few better situated vacant seats...

I just think they're being wholly unrealistic with their banding in the first place and then there seems to be very little difference in price between the different categories. They've already hooked me in (well my mum did) but it makes you wonder how we are going to go about increasing the fanbase with new fans rather than hereditary ones, it's plain unaffordable for me let alone somebody who has kids etc.

So two weeks after I shelled out £40 each for 2 Adult tickets & £18 each for 3 Junior tickets for the Burnley game, I now get a mail from the club saying that I can get an Adult & Junior combined ticket for just £40 & I don't even need to buy a Membership for that.

Yeah, cheers for that.

The home games are tedious as hell, and so it's proving hard for the club to sell the 'less attractive' games

So they drop the membership requirement, and therefore you can buy as many as you want.

But even without the membership requirement, it has dawned on them that they also need to drop the prices.

Bearing in mind there are something like 18k season ticket holders, then the away fans, it does suggest that if all the season ticket holders don't renew, they will have real trouble selling out a lot of the home games.

The 'big 6' fixtures always sell out but that's only thanks to the tourists.

If we go down, then the home attendances will massively plummet unless they REALLY reduce the prices.

Somewhere along the line palace forgot there in the entertainment buissness I get it if Roy sticks 9 men behind the ball shuffling from side To side trying to get a 1 0 win don't matter if it's Liverpool or Norwich his happy if it worked 50% of the time fans might even accept it .last few years have been dire to watch at home and I get that some fans think we should just accept and be happy what we see at selhurst and we should remember what happened at charlton ect but fans are deffently voting with there feet you can see why many st holders don't bother with the cup games .

Expect a we will keep the same price as last year promise enticing people to gamble that we go straight back up. I will also be waiting for ‘ well you get more games now ‘ excuse from the club for a no reduction

The club's ticketing strategy is a load of old bollocks and has been for a while now. Greed has taken over.

All of a sudden local and regional based Palace fans will become de rigueur again and the heartbeat of the club.

Will be interesting to see the impact of demographic change since promotion on attendances in a lower division - Palace has never had to address or consider that before as we've never spent so long a chunk at the top table.

They have been creeping up for a while and also started making more and more ridiculous games Cat A. Personally i have not attended a cat A(other than twice on loaned season ticket) since promotion as whilst i could i wont pay that.
I finally gave up any thought of attending any home league games before last season so have only attended 2 fa cup games and 1 pre season at Selhurst in that time.To me its crazy that a game costs more than my fa cup final ticket a few years ago!

The South London & a proud strapline can now be tucked away until the next time the club are desperate.

This is where I'm getting too. Though some of the post match comments from the club after the cup defeat are making me question if I'll bother attending them again either.

Value is at away games. Cheaper tickets, more craic, no gantry.

I argued with CPFC2010 on here years back when the likes of Chelsea were stiffing away fans on prices & asked if we could at least reciprocate when they came to Selhurst so they might realise what they are doing and change.

The argument I got back was that we couldn't charge away fans more in the same stand as home fans.
I've since asked a few times why that reasoning cannot now flip, but get radio silence.

I'll continue to go in on concessions tickets & loaned STs. And away matches when I can get tickets.

So I actually phoned the club & asked for the reduced pricing to be applied to my already-purchased tickets.

To be fair, they said they could do that but they'd have to move me from the AW to Main Stand (where, it seems, the allocated block of Family tickets are).

Whilst I agree entirely that ticket prices are now far too high, I don't think that argument really holds up. In those days, as you say, it wasn't allowed to charge away fans more than home fans for equivalent seats, which was a good rule as far as it went but didn't prevent horrific prices at gounds like Chelsea where home and away fans were getting equally ripped off.

Now we have the £30 cap for away tickets, which is a huge improvement for travelling fans, but it does obviously mean that home fans (at all clubs) have to accept that the cap is for away fans only and they can't expect home ticket prices to be similarly capped. I'm not in any way trying to justify the current home pricing - I'm just saying that the argument for fairer pricing should not be based on alignment with the capped away price.

Previous relegations from top division has seen Palace follow the statistical trend for home crowd reductions. Which is crowd reducing by 5k in year 1, then by further 3k over years 2 to 3, then reducing by further 3k in years 4 to 5 before stabilising which, for us, would be at about 14.5k.
