Pure guesswork

Con - 320
Lab - 248 (which would be 43 seats over what I bought them at)
SNP - 44
LD - 15
Green - 1
Indy / Other - 22 (basically a balancing figure)

Shock - everyone declares victory, despite no one being able to govern.

Assuming Sinn Fein maintain 7 seats and abstain, and that there is a continuation of convention over Deputy speakers then 322 is a majority if all MPs vote as 2 Tories will deputise and not vote

Agreed. So how does anyone get to 322? The only way is if the DUP are wiped out as currently they think everyone who isnt them are *****.

Personally i think Tories will get to 322 (and then some).

If they are short as you suggest it is hard to see how anyone gets a working government and can pass basic bills including a queens speech and/or budget, and command the confidence of the house.

Shocks of the night:

Electoral Commission and Met Police open joint investigation and imply the election could be ruled null and void

Laura Kuennsberg awarded summary peerage for service to Johnson's Johnson before being unmasked as Stephen Hendry working of behalf of Barry Hearn to undermine the BBC

Probably some more to add later on

If he is only couple short, and cannot form a government then no one else will and there will be another election where the Brexit Party will not stand and the message will be full on Brexit (I am a little surprised how little the Tories have mentioned Brexit considering they have nothing else to say).

If there is no remain election pact in that scenario well have all the grief and probably still end up with a Tory majority.

If hes short by ten or more maybe not.

If he is short and no-one can form a government, how does any business in the House of Commons happen? Might be quite important as we are only 7 weeks away from leaving with no deal and 2 weeks of that will be xmas recess anyway.

I suspect we'll have a government one way or another. Either a Tory Majority, or a coalition of SNP, Labour, LibDems, Greens et al around a second referendum.

The point that adlerhorst was making is that if Boris is just a few seats short then no-one will be able to form a government as the DUP won't back the coalition you mention.

It is a small window but it is one to utter chaos and it comes a whisker away from a Tory majority.

I'd happily take that
