Kick the ball over the top of the centre backs if they push up and the faster players - one of Wilf, Andros, PVA, Ayew and perhaps Schlupp can run on to it?

If that happens (hope not), I think we should hold our nose and look at Lee Bowyer to see if he's grown up yet. Horrible little git as a player (drugs, assault, racism - the lot), - but looks to have something special as a manager (and seems good at spotting emerging talent).

With the amount that their defence looks to move around I would love to see something a bit different from Roy (that I don't think would happen)

--------------------Guaita--------------------

Ward-----Dann-----Cahill-----van Aanholt

------------------Milivojević------------------

Towsend-----Meyer-----Camarasa-----Zaha

-------------------Benteke-------------------

Allow Meyer and Camarasa to play balls over the top for Townsend and Zaha to run onto and use Benteke to bring their defence out-of-position allowing even more space for all four of the midfielders.

Personally would play very narrow 4-4-2 and go for the break with two pacey strikers, rather than playing Benteke, perhaps even going back to Townsend and Wilf up front with 4 centre mids, or Wilf with Ayew. Either way the two forwards should stay high and wide. Let them over commit and we can hit them in the way we do best.

They're a good side and quirky tactically, but we are very good on the road and by any measure have the better players. Should be a good game.

Play Benteke at the back and get him to overlap.

Shit - just spotted the flaw in that masterplan. You need pace.....

That's not really true. He might on the face of it deploy the same sort of formation and personnel but he certainly adjusts tactics according to the opposition

Schlupp is needed .....Ayew has no pace.

Didn't Allardyce recommend him when he quit? Sorry, 'retired'.

I'd like to see Wilf and Townsend wide giving their fullbacks a nightmare, and not allowing them to get forward and overload.

I wonder if playing Wilf and Townsend as a front two might fit well against attacking CB’s. It would allow us to play four midfielders and both Wilf and Townsend can defend either flank as required as if we played 5 midfielders - they’d certainly be more adept at that than Benteke.

Regarding ‘man marking Wilf’ - yes please, perhaps it might convince the rest of their team that one player is enough. Wilf switching flanks in a front two should be sufficient to ruin Utd’s shape if someone is following him around the pitch.

Sounds good to me. Worked well when we were forced to play that way before. Brought more goals than playing with a target man. Hopefully Wilf constantly switching sides will confuse the hell out of that system.

And VAR should stop any goals like the one Mr Karren Brady scored in THAT cup game.

I’m not sure how much ‘fight’ we’d have in the middle. If Utd are going to mess about with their CB’s perhaps we should play without a forward, McArthur in the middle with Luka instead of Benteke and Townsend and Zaha as two ‘false 9’s’ might be good on the counter with Meyer and Camarasa driving forward. Bring Benteke on to hold the ball up if we’re ahead late on.

Bournmouth in their last 5 games have 3 wins and 2 draws. 1 win in their last 7 at home.

Both sides ended up with 2 really good chances a piece. People are lauding the opening day performance by Sheff Uts but it was an almost identical team we put 5 past at the end of last season. If Bournemouth have improved then it will make it a decent test next weekend. If they haven't then Sheff Utd really didn't create much against what is a poor declining side.

Too early to know what position teams are in for this season but we should have confidence going into the game this weekend.

They play 3 at the back and the CB's have a habit of coming out wide and overlapping into midfield as i understand it.
