Next match is the table-topping teams battle at Hafenstraße
RW Essen v. VfB Lübeck.
Sadly VfBwill be deprived of vocal support. Those young schoolboys have no real chance to travel because the train from Essen reaches Hamburg as late as 1.30 am. Next train to Lübeck departs at 5.40. So plenty of time to hang around outside the central station.

Late on Friday a thunderstorm had caused damage at Lohmühle. Parts of the trees behind one end of the ground crashed down burying the porta-loos under them and completely blocked the entrance to the away end.

150 Wattenscheid supporters were escorted to other parts of the ground.

Old trees gave in to the storm that hit Lohmühle on Friday.

Not known yet. Green shorts, white stockings in stock anyway and I think a plain white shirt will do this term.

Nevertheless it's still possible out of the blue hey come up with a strip in all-???. Hope not.

Good to see you posting here, Mike. How's life in darkest Essex compared to lively Berlin (where I've never been. My wife and son told me Berlin an the Berliners are highly overrated)

An excellent start Ruedi, hopefully Palace will match the three points on saturday.

Fingers crossed for the trip to Essen.

I was there a couple of years ago with Neil the Eagle and BVB Bob, amongst others. One thing I remember about the game was when the goalscorer jumped into the Long Jump pit next to the pitch as part of celebrations.

Let's hope that its VfB doing the long jump at the end of the game.

If my memory serves me right then the jump was part of scenes of joy at RWO (Oberhausen) rather than RWE (they have a ground with only three ends, btw). I know BVB Bob (and you?) were at Essen when Frankfurt produced riots after the game then.

I'll be happy with a point today. Essen will get a bumper crowd tonight. Remains to be seen how the boys in green and white cope with a rather hostile atmosphere.

Christian Möckel scored a brilliant goal against Wattenscheid. His second for the club.

I have indeed got my RW's mixed up. I've been to RWO but I haven't made it to RWE yet - but BVB Bob has been there a couple of times and says that RWE has a brilliant atmosphere - I also recall him mentioning the riot on the last trip.

Good luck

Essen have three VfB ex-player on the books. Florian Thorwart who was given released end of laste season, Holger Wehlage who had spells with St. Pauli, Werder Bremen, Union Berlin, Duisburg (yes, he's a clubhopper for monetary reasons) and that man Löbe (I don't want to say more) who's unlikely top make it tonight
