'it would be boring if they won every time right?'

To be, or not to be, that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? To die, to sleep,
No more; and by a sleep to say we end

All of your post makes perfect sense, but it worries me that Freedman May have a say in this. The integrity of the man is flawed to say the least so I would expect the snake not to want anyone around that could pick up the caretaker role in future as he so desperately wants it. His managerial career is shocking, recruitment shocking and he is one lucky grass that SP has such a heart that he values his heros.
Id love to see Reid back.

So Dougie told you he desperately wants the managers job desperately did he?

He's stated that he doesn't want to return to club management

Also I would doubt this would have anything to do with him, if Roy wanted Reid back he would ask, but don't forget Reid did exactly the same at Allardyce, gave a reason for giving up and soon after rocks up at another club

There are certain football people that you would be insane to touch. Steve McClaren comes to mind and so does Dougie. Bolton is proof what a good manager he was as the damage he caused was unrecoverable. Except for a handful of games with us it was the most boring football seen along with that of Taylor. Appointing him shows a major flaw in the judgement of our chairman. There are plenty of teams who have had suitable candidates and who have connections. Who does Dougie know?

Think you've been very harsh on freedman here. The job he did for us as manager was better than decent. As a club we were on our arse - that he not only kept us from relegation but then provided the foundation for a promotion winning season means he deserves a lot of credit for the job he did here.

I wouldn't say Forest or Bolton were particularly easy jobs either but wouldn't dispute that he underperformed in both roles.

How would Stephen Reid pick up the caretaker role? He's not got a single moment's experience being a manager, and unless i'm mistaken, had some sort of personal issues relating to his departure earlier. If he wants a career in management he needs to get work in the lower leagues, no way is he going to get a Premier job without experience. Same applies for Dougie, tho he's already failed.

he said at the time that Bolton had a Premiership quality squad - clearly thought it would be a doddle to get them promoted but put them on a collision course with demotion - FACT. Holloway got us promoted - FACT. Did he need to screw the club over TWICE with the Cardiff debacle? Get over him as a manager - he was, and IS, awful.

I heard Reid interviewed on an Irish radio station a while back. Wasn't impressed and found his at times almost dizzying overuse of the interview's name quite ingratiating. Not sure he's the sharpest tool in the box tbh.

I'd like to think that wherever Jamie Smith goes, Gareth Davies follows, still shouting to this day.
