And not forgetting they’ve elected a paedophile apologist in the north west (assuming brown nonces are bad, white ones good?) standing for a party financed by a paedophile apologist.

HTF can you claim to be decent and vote for that?

I hope that this leads to the end of the two party system that exists at National level and PR is brought in. Fat chance I know but this election shows important it is to have a PR system of some kind.

I came into the room just as John Curtice said '..from both ends.' Has he been reading the Colonoscopy thread, or was he referring to his Widdicombe fantasy?

It's a little difficult to determine what this actually means. Yes ok the Brexit Party got the most votes and MEPs but then add up all the combined Lib Dem, Greens etc and still the argument over Leave or Remain is equally divided so what does that mean for Brexit?

Remain Parties (exc. Labour) 40.4%

Leave Parties (B.P. & UKIP) 34.9%

Turnout 37%

(70% of Labour voters voted 'Remain' at the referendum.)

All parties except B.P. have party loyal votes let’s face it the Tories would not have a single vote if it were nit for that. So some of the pro remain parties would have party loyal voters included rather than a straight in and out, let’s also remember this is not a referendum on Europe but a vote to elect MP’s to the Europe.

Is that to say, more MEPs than any other national party?

Not sure I understand this. Lib Dems benefited from party loyalty more than the influx of support from traditional Labour voters?

Yes, the Brexit/UKIP party lost the popular vote by a significant margin, and together achieved only 35% of a 37% or so turnout, so just reflecting a minority of the total voting electorate who seem to want to entertain a no deal WTO exit.

The message to Farage is that he has benefited from a protest vote against mainly existing Brexiter kippers and Tories, but has not convinced anybody from the ever growing remain camps to switch allegiances, and that is what he has to do to win another referendum.

The EU elections are showing cracks in the growth of far right populism for the first time now with those parties feeling disappointed with the outcome across the rest of Europe.

The headlines make Farage look a big winner, but the reality is that less than 12% of the registered electorate actually voted for him. So not much different from ukip.
