I’m not sure you can deduce that because their deal with Asda looks dead, that means the end of Sainsbury’s full stop!
They are a very profitable retail business and are not going anywhere soon. I can’t see it having any impact on our issue whatsoever.

There is no connection with Sainsbury's potentially going under and the CMA being negative towards an Asda/Sainsbury's merger.

Their last 6-month results published in November showed that sales, profits and market-share were all up significantly. They're in no danger.

Infact, it may benefit us for the merger to go ahead as one of the key requirements from the CMA may be that a number of stores are closed

Forest now have plans to redevelop their Main Stand, taking capacity up to 38k. Hope to be underway end of next season. Can see theirs starting before any possible work starts on ours. Will help them that the council owns the land and the club have just agreed a new lease.

And the lack of residential properties around the stadium.

It's not the fairest of comparisons really. I like the look of Forest's plans though.

There was early talk on here but anyone find any (very long term) plans for rest of ground?

Reason being - and against the majority probably - from an architectural and British sports stand/stadium point of view, the proposed new stand makes the whole look ridiculous. That is, it’s not a British or German style stand but more a (eventually I assume, hence my question) wrap around stand and eventually stadium. In the mock ups the whole looks totally ludicrous: an American, rounded, standard, part-stadium. With three sheds next to it.

Was very disappointed it wasn’t desired as a stand-alone er stand. So higher and steeep and square but maybe a CP twist with glass or whatever. Not a quarter US stadium plan.

The mock up reminder me partially of weird developments in China eg the mega tower block skirting around a little house or a half built hotel next to a shanty town etc

Ps yes, what is planned is better than what is here now. But it’s going to last for a long while so we need to make sure what we are doing is not a total disaster (Brexit allegory alert)

We won’t always fill the ground when the capacity is over 34k so I don’t think w need worry.

Things are changing. The lower Holmesdale club shop is no more and last night appeared as another bottled beer bar.

So that’s my point. A shiny half unfinished mega bowl on one side and the rest as is? We’d be a laughing stock.

Am saying we have a ‘stand’ design that looks like it will be part of a complete all round stadium. But unlikely it ever will be. Ridiculous.

Living so far away , i do not know enough about the plans for the whole stadium . However from the presentation the new Stand does look huge . Are there aspects of it that are making it so expensive . Yes we want a decent stadium but to me as long as it has decent views , nice to look at and a reasonable capacity - that's enough . As many have said we are unlikely to get crowds of 30,000 regularly - are we being to ambitious ? Have we got plans for rest of ground which will compliment new stand ?

Was Filbert Street ever a ‘laughing stock’?

Who gives a shit what other fans think anyway.

We, as a club, never seem to plan anything,Its as if we do everything off the cuff. It seems evident that at some point we will need to do something with the Arthur, and it strikes me that every property that comes on the market in Park Road should be snapped up. Long term it makes sense if ‘we’ own all the properties, the problems in planning etc.would be dramatically reduced. If we have money ringfenced for the main stand development at least it would be invested and a decent return on money pretty much guaranteed. I know that we haven’t been able to start this stand yet, but the money men at the club must surely think it a viable option. I reckon Uncle Ron would have bought them all up and sold them to the club and made a nice few quid!

Wank post.

How do you mean Palace dont plan anything? They have planned to bulid a new stand for **** sake. Bought the training ground and are improving the media side and marketing of the club, whilst taking the club from near extinction to signing full international players and respected international managers and attracting bigger investors, all the while having the longest run in the top flight in 114 years of history. What more do you want? How else can you get planning permission... by being in Nottingham, not within a densely populated area?
