You're right of course but 23 days a year max prob out of 365 when football matches would be played. That leaves 342 days for the locals to have the place all to themselves.

Such a pity we can't move back and kinda illogical too. Maybe we could claim Biblical reference and move back anyway.

I wonder how Bromley FC got planning permission for their new stand/community center apparently so easily?

Bromley FC is located in a far more leafy, nice houses area, and trees had to be lost to make room for the structure. Also it can't be fun living on Hayes Lane close to the ground on game days when there are crowds of 1,000+ (and I appreciate the difference between 1,000 and 34,000 but 1,000 is still a lot for the location we are talking about).

If (a big IF) in the future Bromley FC make it into the Football League, I wonder at what point the NIMBY's start making a noise.

I just can't see how the Sainsbury's situation gets resolved even by then. I can only think he has genuinely gotten traction (or leverage) with them somehow.... but as I alluded above, I just don't see it.
Must be the biggest stumbling block.
Until such time as there has been an announcement that they have agreed a deal with Sainsbury’s, only then will the club be able to say with some certainty when the work will begin.

Is there a projected timeline for work to start, or are we nowhere near that point yet?

I pass that ground a lot on the m4. The last stand going up is very small, but overall , I think it will be a great little ground ! Steep ends behind each goal , quirky design. They’ve got London Irish ( or Welsh !) rugby team sharing it though , so pitch may be a problem !

Thinking this through, the two areas that seemed to be holding back the develpment were the houses in Wooderson Close (about which details of rehousing those affected seem to have been settled or are nearly decided) and the main sticking point, the ransom strip that Sainsbury's have in the Car Park that sounds like a battle of determination over the final agreement to fix a price or possible CPO by Croydon Council.

What is stopping Palace pressing ahead with development as the two areas are on either side of the Main Stand and the majority of the work can start whilst the final details are sorted?

23 days is bad enough, that's 23 saturdays/sundays mostly where a cleanup job is needed, probable repairs and certainly a security presence, and where casual users of the park will have a harder time of it. I still think it was doable as I said, just playing devil's advocate..

Exactly, which makes me wonder why the whole thing was announced in the first place. Surely wait until the major stumbling blocks are resolved.

Very risky given Sainsbury's have no real pressure to sell. Getting a CPO doesn't even bear thinking about given the legal team/power Sainsbury's likely have at their disposal.

Bromley’s ground is set back from the main road & not in the middle of the nice leafy houses on Hayes Lane so there’s no reason why anyone should block planning permission as none of those properties are directly affected by it. Besides it’s quite a busy road & there must be at least a thousand plus kids & teachers going to Ravensbourne School everyday so they’re used to it.

Not sure if there is a nearby asda and therefore whether this is a store they would be looking to sell, however if so, their need to sell could all of a sudden be greater than our need to buy.

As you say, a redeveloped Whitehorse would push up the capacity and would allow us the freedom to reduce the capacity in an unsafe Authur Waite stand.

In an ideal world, we would do a deal with Sainsbury’s whereby they reduce their capacity to what they require to run one of their local stores there still. That would then continue to be a useful shop for the locals and an anchor tenant on that site. Giving up a small slither of their car park to us would then be of less consequence to them if they became a Sainsbury’s Local.

It’s a very large space and I think we could then develop the Whitehorse stand significantly in the remaining space. Hopefully not adversely affecting the houses nor needing anyone to be rehoused at that end.
