I thought the money for the main stand was put aside when they bought into the club?

Buy the store, knock it down and expand that stadium as well. Sounds good. but what would the costs be to buy it.

I don't know about a ring fence, but it's turning into a three ring circus*...

Possibly but the land we need does not have a supermarket on it - they will still want what they see as the going value for it. I think they are prepared to sell now - the argument is on the price.

It’s a very large space and I think we could then develop the Whitehorse stand significantly in the remaining space. Hopefully not adversely affecting the houses nor needing anyone to be rehoused at that end.
I always thought that common sense would prevail along these lines. One key issue with this is that there is obviously still a market there for Sainsburys so by downgrading they could be effectively handing over their business to the Tesco in Thornton Heath.

If anything the logical solution could be a multi-storey car park with a new more efficient store attached. This could be built over the current petrol station and car park, enabling us to buyout the current store and upgrade the Whitehorse.

Obvious problem is the lack of incentive for Sainsburys to invest that sort of money in a plan like that.

This is really about where the two companies have stores which are in direct competition at nearby locations such as their Purley Way and Beddington Lane stores.
However there could be a case for some consolidation. Living in Shirley there are nine Sainsbury's stores within easy travelling distance and this still excludes their express stores.

This would only make sense for Sainsburys if the revenue raised from the sale of the existing store effectively covered most of the cost of any new development. So in effect we would be paying to build a new store for them with a multi-story car park over which we would have no control as it would probably remain open during match times.

We would still then have the cost of any new stand.

If we have ambitions to be a top team(I am not saying we should) then at some point we will need to move to another ground or purchase back Sainsburys and redevelop that end of the ground.

If the stand had been built, or permission granted the valuation of the club would be higher and they made be happy. Sadly things beyond theirs and SP control

They will be most keen to get thier deal / merge done. That’s where the joint company valuation increases, earn outs and bonuses will be dependant.

Selling 150 ish stores is quite a challenge.having a ready made buyer lined up might make the selhurst store a quick win for them if they can be see. To be off loading stores quickly.

Speed will be more important that price recieved as the combined groups value as a collective and future plans will supersede flogging cash made 150 stores in the grand scheme of things, otherwise there would have been zero point doing the deal in the first place.

When are they going to move the singing section so they can build the entrance to the bowling alley under the Holmesdale?
