Remember when we were expressing interest in the Crystal Palace park idea and hearing timeline estimates that it would take up to 10 years to get approvals, cut through the red-tape and then build and construct ?
Well that was 5 years ago.....

True but it would obviously have to be a compromise deal with both sides working together instead of against each other. The enforced closing when we play is a big negative to them, especially now when our games get moved around so much, so is effectively a good bargaining tool for us.

A multi-storey car park could theoretically be used by both us and them as well.

Just me maybe, but a multi story car park for a football ground/match sounds like it would be a nightmare to get in and out off. It would need some serious traffic and parking management.

Maybe new richer owners would bring that alive along with a Palace support Mayor of London! What about the guy trying to buy Chelsea!

Or what about any of those sniffing around Newcastle and funding Ashley a muppet to deal with that would be suitable for us?

No but in the modern world that’s what will eventually happen and more likely sooner than later with our current American investors wanting out. More of a prediction if you like!

It would be handier if there was a Asda near by .

Sainsburys store at north cheam had a car park roughly same size as selhurst but store is more used so they built a upstairs car park over the top of it works very well . Sometimes when I go selhust on a non match day amazed how quite sainsburys is maybe 40 cars in car park and some of them would be workers so that might find it hard to get permission to warrant a 2 nd level for car park .

Isn't it time Parish came up with a less ambitious/realistic scheme for rebuilding the main stand.
Something that doesn't depend on Sainsbury's. Move out to Charlton/Fulham/The Stoop. Knock down the old stand stick more boxes and seating in. They could also do something with the AW at the same time. The pain would be over more quickly.

It seems to me the current scheme is becoming a pipe dream.

Not sure it's a pipe dream as it's effectively been approved. However I tend to agree that maybe it should be scaled back a bit, if anything to save money for the Arthur.

Just buying tickets today for the Huddersfield game was very easy, as still loads available in the Arthur. I know it's symptomatic of both the poor facilities and our poor home form (and an unattractive opponent) but it must still be in the back of the mind of the owners that we could struggle to sell enough tickets to make the new stand financially viable.

What's likely to happen is the new stand will sell out but the knock on effect will empty the Arthur, especially when charging 38 to watch Huddersfield (it stings a bit paying that much). In other words building an expensive new stand whilst neglecting the rest of the stadium could backfire and I wouldn't be surprised if this is in the back of the Americans minds.

I would add that I don't necessarily mean smaller but not the glass monument envisaged at the moment. Surely a design like the Holmesdale wouldn't cost nearly as much.

Also with AW if the stand section went completely there'd be enough room for improved facilities and with a second tier above the old terrace the capacity would increase significantly.
That might even be a better way to go to increase capacity than a new main stand.
I'm sure that could be done very cheaply after all they love a stanchion in the Arthur so you wouldn't need any wonderful engineering to hold it all up. Also as its further forward the height would have minimal impact on Park Road.

That's it job done, get on with it Parish, were do I send my fee invoice?

The issue is the surrounding land needs to be utilised for plant and construction materials etc. I would have thought a new stand of any meaningful size so as to increase capacity would have the same issues.

I would imagine the only possible option is to go for the worse option close that side of the ground while the stand is being built, like the Holmesdale and Whitehorse, but that would really hit the income. In the long term it would be more than useful to have that land back in the clubs hands for all sorts of reasons.

Probably not but this new stand is servicing a lot more functions than the Holmesdale, which I believe is basically just somewhere to sit/stand with a concourse.

I've said on here many times before that it would be do-able for Sainsburys to retain a supermarket and fuel station on site with a capacity increasing redevelopment of all four stands.

1. Sainsburys re-build a new store, with a level of underground parking and surface parking along with delivery yard. This new store and delivery yard would be along the "back" of the car park where the current recycling bins and cut through to Clifton Road is.

2. Re-build the Main Stand while the current stand is in operation into a double-tier with executive boxes.

3. Fill in corner between Main and WHL Stands and Main and Holmesdale Stands.

4. Re-build the Whitehorse Lane Stand while the current stand is in operation into a double-tier stand.

5. Knock down the Arthur Wait, re-housing fans in the other three stands.

6. Fill in corner between AW and WHL Stands and AW and Holmesdale Stands.

7. Make any adjustments you want to the Holmesdale Road while the stand remains in operation.

Er no.

Spurs have just opened a billion pound stadium and you think our one new stand costing 100 million is over ambitious.
