That was really bad from MOTD. Showing the fouls on Wilf that were not given and suggesting that they were given. Did they do that on purpose or are they just ignorant?

Wilf going public about lack of protection hasn't helped at all. Wouldn't be surprised if that's in the back of an officials mind too.

I remember interview on MOTD after the Watford game. I'm not sure if it was Wilf coming out publicly about lack of protection or whether he was just answering a leading question that was put to him by the BBC commentator.
In which case it may not have been a case of Wilf bleeting like a baby about lack of protection but genuinely just honestly answering a question that was put to him.
Personally that is how I see that interview and not as Wilf coming out on his on volition asking for more protecion.

Whatever.

Still possible that it's influenced officials. They are human, apparently.

Zaha gets a debatable yellow for raising his arm to a player that has just done the same to him. Then gets another yellow and consequent red for applauding the ref. One game ban. Then charged by the FA for continuing to applaud ref and faces extended ban.

Barnes gets a debatable yellow for simulation. Then abuses the linesman by throwing imaginary punches, screaming at him to "**** off" and spitting in his direction. No further booking and no subsequent ban unless charged by the FA.

If the FA don't charge Barnes today, then Palace should be clearly pointing this out when Zaha's charge comes up on Tuesday the 5th. What's the difference between Barnes and Zaha ?

Exactly. Just seen it and Barnes reaction is ten times worse than what Wilf did. Hopefully this incident will embarrass the FA into just giving Wilf a slap on the wrist. Doubt it though - expecting a one match ban.

The reaction of Barnes (although he must have felt hard done by) was way over the top. Clear foul and abusive language towards the linesman. FA have got to charge him. What Wilf did was wrong but this was far, far worse. Surely ??!!

Absolutely spot on. Mariner's performance was scandalous, but the generally inconsistency among refs is atrocious. Barnes has to get punished for that.

I think Barnes was lucky it was a second yellow just like Wilfs was but his anger is understandable it was a clear pen yet he is accused of cheating. In the end i think it was a good/fair decision not to send Barnes off

I hate Barnes as much as the next man, but I think they will look at the circumstances there and think that a yellow is enough all round, considering it was a stonewall penalty.
Having said that, I hope they lock him up just for spitting towards the linesman.
