Wilf was fouled and it wasnít given. No difference.

They won't charge Barnes but I expect they will Wilf. There is no consistency or logic where officials and the FA are concerned. And the latter have always been complete *****.

Zaha or Barnes doesn't matter. We can bleat on about reactions but at the end of the day they've reacted to 2 very poor dicisions by officials.

Sooner VAR comes in the better.

Having watched the BBC highlights it looked as though the yellow for diving was brandished after his foul mouthed rant at the linesman. In which case he would rightly have a case that two yellows would be unfair ie he would probably have thought twice about going off on one if already booked.

However that could just be shit editing on the part of the BBC because usually a yellow for diving is awarded very quickly after the incident and you would expect the ref to stand around waiting for the player to complete his abusive tirade.

Yep. Barnes didn't deserve a yellow for diving but did for the abuse to the linesman, although arguably that could have been a straight red.

Wilf was booked for raising his hand to Ward-Prowse which was deserved, then booked for his attitude towards the ref, also deserved. That would've been it if he hadn't carried on after.

The incidents were completely different, apart from the refs making wrong decisions. Referees deserve more respect than either player gave them but they don't help themselves with such poor decisions.

Not sure I get this argument.

The caution was clearly for simulation (irrespective of whether or not it was deserved). Whether or not that was deserved he's committed another offence after that while on a caution (irrespective of whether or not the referee had yet shown the yellow card). If a player gets a caution for an offence that shouldn't have been given, is he then allowed to go and punch a player later on in the game without punishment?

Also there's no 'arguably a straight red' about it. Shouting 'F off' multiple times at an official is the definition of offensive insulting and/or abusive language.

Any referee not sending someone off for that in grassroots football would lose a lot of credibility.

The problem is that the FA still harp on about refs being right, but I argue that goal line technology and VAR prove they are as human as the rest of us.

I like the Rugby rule that only the captain can talk to the ref. There is too much complaining from players as well as too many shit refs but the main the main thing is getting consistency. VAR should be able to help with that

Refs have an incredibly difficult job that they largely do well. However there is no doubt in my mind that the last 2 refs have had an agenda against Wilf.

Doesn't excuse his reaction, but I think football just can't handle that a player as skilled as Wilf is playing for Palace. He gets probably 1 in 2 fouls given, yet the moment he breathes on a defender the refs whistle instantly.

We do have a diver in the team, Jimmy Mac, but as he is just an anonymous mcfielder no one seems to care

What is the point of Jermaine Jenas?

He reminds me of the Paul Whitehouse character in the pub discussions

Actually i dont think jimmy mac is a serial diver like salah He was booked last season for it but should have got a pen. He did dive once this seazon and got booked. Thefe was snother ocassion when prople felt he dived but he didnt as they were looking fo a non existent trip when it was a push in the back.

Nice

I think MOTD panelists get infected with Lawrohansyndrome. JJ wasn't so bad when he started.
Every week now they have "no idea" why defenders raise their hands into strikers' faces when contesting headers.
I find it's like watching 3 dogs stumbling around right after they've been chasing their tails running in a circle - funny if it wasn't tragic.

Match of the Day is the worst football show on TV. You get a few minutes of a game and 5 minutes or Shearer and Co spouting nonsense trying to sum it up. It's obvious the pundits don't watch the whole game and only the edited bits the producer has selected to show. It's an absolute nonsense compounded yesterday by a minute of the Everton game devoted to a cat strolling around the pitch.

I'm not quite sure how Shearer is supposed to watch seven football matches in their entirety in five and a half hours.
