Best right back in Europe, with stats to support that.

Southgate is utterly clueless.
To be fair to Southgate, he watched him at Burnley and although he had a reasonably good game, he didn't have one of his outstanding performances. That's probably what he needed to get himself in the squad.

As others have said, we have a lot of competition for places in that right back position.

He's got time on his side.

It’s better for the club that a youth player gets called up in just over a year from out academy.

His feet are on the ground, if he is going to get his head turned it doesnt need to be someone called Jordan (was everyone called Jordan 25-30 years ago?) at another club...

It has always been rumoured that Drogba told Zaha that he should sign up for Cote D’Ivoire because he would never play for England as long as he was. Palace player. Maybe AWB has got some distant African relations.

Well he played for DR Congo at U20 level, so I am going to hazard a guess that yes he does.

That was cringe-worthy wasn’t it, bit Alan Partridge.

However, I’m sanguine about AWB not being selected. He’ll get matchplay in the younger England side, who are building towards a tournament and have lots of talent.

He’s unlikely to get on the pitch for the full England team currently, given the other RBs who got the nod. But Southgate did mention him, he’s on the radar and getting close.

An injury or two ahead of him and he’ll get in....and if he keeps progressing like he has been, he could force his way in next season anyway.

He's been utterly brilliant for a year now - a standout performer across the league, almost always out best player and outperforming his peers in the same position.
Because he doesnt play for a 'top' club. If he were a Liverpool player, he would have mutiple caps already.

AWB has already played for DR Congo at Youth level and for England at Under 20 and Under 21 level.

Him being ignored when he is currently the best defender statistically in Europe shows that how well you are playing has hardly any influence on the England selectors.

If I was him I'd play for DR Congo, he'd be part of a team where he'd be loved and appreciated for his talents. just like he is playing for Palace.

It’s Zaha all over again. Bet he’s in the next DR Congo squad and then Southgate trots out the lack of desire to play for England bullshit

Yeah, to an extent. I’m sure Aaron would also like to play at a World Cup too. It’s not quite a Wilf and Ivory Coast scenario, where failing to qualify for the World Cup is a big underachievement, and they still remain one of the favourites to win AFCON.
