Vicente has improved in his first season as he has gained more experience, he has adjusted quite well to a different league and style, eg he hasn't delayed on the ball again after the vardy incident in the game against Leicester

but obviously there are many who won't allow any suggestion that he is not perfect!

Yeah, it’s the suggestion that he’s massively error prone and makes one every game. I can only recall a small handful.

Nearly though! He really wouldn't look out of place in a top 6 team. Great player, can see why Atletico were in for him. One of our elite players, for sure.

Butland has declined in the last couple of seasons. I would much rather have Guaita tbh.

I've not seen enough of Butland this season to comment, but I doubt he's been better than Guiata, who hopefully with some PL experience, is going to be even better.

Also, he's a character, which we need more of.

Won Stoke POTY tbf, can't say I've seen him play this season though.

Happy with Guaita though anyway

Would love Butland. IMHO he is a better keeper than Pickford when on form (let's not forget it was a close call between the 2 just before the World Cup last year with Pickford only getting the nod because of better distribution. We don't have to worry about that aspect ).

Guaita and Hennessey are 32. Good keepers but ageing. Butland is 26. For the right fee this is the guy to go for. Even though I will admit there are more pressing concerns for the squad overall, it might be a while before a keeper of his proven ability becomes available again. Sometimes you just have to go for it even though you are looking for improvements in other positions too.

Having Butland would be great in principle but for a club like ourselves, with limited spending power and lacking a goalscoring striker or the ability to penetrate defenses except through wing play, I'd say midfield and up front must be the priority. Arguably another CB, preferably a young one, would also be preferable to spending millions on a GK when Hennessey seems to be a reasonable deputy and Gauita is starting to look like a superb No.1.

Give Gauita the number 1 shirt now Jules is going and see if Brazilian kid can be number 3. Hope Jules hosts the restaurant as the legends who do now are from a different era, unless of course he moves away

Yep, that’s the top 5. Not bad company either. Impressive that he’s above Fabianski in particular who’s been brilliant this season and won West Ham’s player of the year.

I am surprised that nobody has posted this today:

We've watched every distribution, shot & cross against @premierleague GKs in 2018/19 (40k+ clips).

Each rated according to a variety of contextual factors that matter to GKs/GK Coaches.

1 @LukaszFabianski
2 @vguaita13
3 @PetrCech

Cech that high really surprises me, but other than that Vicente is in good company. Top keeper.

Yeah, he’s really no worse than Leno and Arrizabalaga currently, who are good keepers (both still very young though).
