Wayne has certainly been better this season but his performance against Watford shows why he shouldn’t be in goal for us.

Agreed. This is a non debate. Whilst Guita is not perfect he is a million miles ahead of the Hen.

Guaita inspired confidence, both with his defence and indeed in the stands, no real costly boobs yet

Sergio Rico on loan from Seville looked very decent for Fulham. Guita, him and Perri would be excellent.

Is he better than, currently injured, England 5th choice Betenelli? Often thought he might make a decent no.2 here..

I can't say I have seen a lot of Bettinelli but what I will say is that Sergio Rico on form is much better. Trouble was he was absolutely awful last season and got dropped for an even worse keeper. He's done ok at Fulham but there's still be a few highlights I have seen where I've thought he could have done a lot better.

'The Hen'.

Cool nickname but not as good as Wayne Hennazi.

Much of Wayne's resurgence has to be down to a quality goalkeeping coach like Kiely as opposed to when he was under pie-man Woodman's "coaching". The regression of Wayne under Woodman was startling, wouldn't come for crosses, nutmugged himself at Villa Park, visibly gained weight - must have taken a lot of hard graft to forget those bad habits picked up.

Unfortunately, as seen versus Watford recently, he still has that ability to cause uncertainty at vital times.

I agree with your first point that Guaita is a different level.

Hen has definitely improved since Allardice came in and has put in some decent performances. He also appears to be a popular member of the squad. But he has a number of specific flaws which teams will target. For a while it was the nervous shuffle just before a free kick, then it was a similar tendency to anticipate a shot in open play. A striker only needs to twitch in the box and Henessay ends up on the floor. He has improved on both of those but still seems to freeze with deep in swinging corners beyond the far post. The Watford goal was just one in a long line of that type of goal. He just doesn’t seem to know whether to come or go. These are re-occurring flaws in technique (or possibly mentality) as opposed to a simple mis-handling error, which can even happen to the best (De Gea in the World Cup).

Guaita on the other hand exudes confidence and gives off an aura that you will have to do something pretty special to beat him. In terms of clean sheets he has got off to a brilliant start and this will only add to his confidence and that of the defenders around him. I think he will continue to improve and will be a massive player for us as he continues to adjust to this league.

Indeed, I don't think Guaita is anywhere near his ceiling yet. An astute signing.

Except of course it wasn't. Dougie messed up, the club don't know what they are doing, Parish is a cheapskate liar etc.

Guita on a free is a fantastic piece of business, are the keepers of Liverpool and Chelsea that much better? Combined they cost over £120 million more than Guita this summer.

Bloody Dougie what does he do??

Guaita performed better than Kepa Arrizabalaga in a weaker team in La Liga last season. And Alisson Becker is still massively over rated in my book too, both clubs had their pants pulled down with those transfer fees.

I was just thinking how funny it was when everyone started panicking that Guaita might decide to **** off to Napoli or Fiorentina instead after we had already agreed a pre contract deal.with him.

An outstanding signing. So, so agile and dynamic. Well done Dougie and team.
