They were fecked you muppet! They were bombing in the championship when they took Dougie. They were buggered the moment BFS left. Staying up by the skin of their teeth often times. That clubs moment was in 2007 odd and they pissed it away.

Please tell me you're one not those plonkers that thinks when a prem club goes down they walk the championship are you? Most of these clubs when they go down have been total dogshit for a season then they get relegated to league 1. Bolton were a basket case when he went there 16th in the league, they got the new manager bounce then all the reasons they got relegated kicked in.

It's kind of funny that Iain Moody did all sorts of imoral stupid shite and taking the palace tinted specs off Dougie actually did the right thing.

Just ignore what he said about Bolton at the time and them having a better squad. He went for one thing and that was the money. So in your world Dougie was a good manager and was right to screw us over to the Cardiff chairman? Hopefully we might get some of the other true gents of management back like Dowie or Pulis. Some clubs have gone down and straight back up, but they had good managers. Don't confuse the player with the manager. And so far the Sporting Director.

If this was the case at Bolton , it show a supreme misunderstanding of football and its finances that Freedman took the Bolton job in the first place then, particularly as he left Palace who were in a better League position. He obviously, at that time, didn't have much faith in Parish and CPFC 2010 capabilities of running a football club.

Ironic that we now have such a man with such a font of knowledge of football and it's finances as our Director of Football.

I don't think Dougie did screw us over over the Cardiff thing. If I recall the incident correctly he recieved a dodgy text and felt it was best he reported it to avoid any fall out screwing him up further down the line. There's nothing wrong with that - it's actually the correct thing to do.
He says that he immediately phoned Parish to let him know what was happening, and that Parish himself was sympathetic towards his actions.

Everyone seems to forget that palace at the time was running on a 3 year cycle , sell, rebuild, push for promotion. If we hadnít gone up we would have had to sell our best players

Good luck to him. Seems like a thoroughly nice bloke and a good coach. You could see the impact after his departure at the start of this season.

'Three Year Cycle' doesn't have the same ring to it as FYP.

I've no idea. Was there the same wailing and gnashing of teeth when that Ben fella was let go?

Football fans often falsely get it into their heads that there's some undiscovered bit of managerial gold in the coaching staff. Very rarely turns out to stand up. How many times have clubs gone this way, promoting someone from below and they've gone on to be failures. Countless. Can't think of that many that prove otherwise. Boot room days are long gone.

Isn't it just common decency to look out for a good sort who comes in and does a good job for the club? He was popular with the players and the staff.

Decency might be an alien concept to you, Stan.

But he left the club of his volition (unless i'm mistaken). Don't see my mild bafflement to why people seem so attached to a coach who was here for a year, has anything to do with decency.

Like i say, there was the Ben Wassisname that left, who was very highly rated, was there a 20 page thread about him? I wish Reid the best, but just dispute the feeling that 'this may come back to haunt us' that has been stated on here.
