I would say that system is the way we should move forward with providing we have the right players in place. A Back 3 would make us more rigid in defence and with the support of the Wing Backs would give them extra protection also. However my concern with your selection would be Scott Dann, has he fully recovered and is he still that influential player he once was? so i would consider a younger quicker version and for me any One of these Two guys would fit in perfectly, they may not be everyone's favorite players on the BBS but Craig Dawson Or Chris Smalling would be ideal.
I would tweek the midfield slightly by dropping Meyer back into the Midfield 3 to give the middle more solidity, especially when AWB and PVA are overlapping.
My other concern with your selection would be Benteke, currently with his lack of goals would be hard to justify his inclusion as in reality that team does look short of Goals. But bring in the right Forward that has better movement and with greater pace than CB would help, but also it would help improve Wilf Zaha's allround game having a fellow forward with good fluidity alongside would make us a greater threat, that player i feel could be Danny Welbeck OR Similar. The goalkeeper situ is still to be resolved as at some stage Guiata a very good keeper needs to be brought in but currently WH stays in on merit.
This would be my line up.

-------------------------------Hennessey/Guiata-----------------------------

---------Dawson/Smalling-------------Tomkins------------Sakho--------------

-----AWB------------------------------------------------------------PVA-------

----------------Luka------------------Meyer---------------Kouyate--------------

-------------------------Zaha-------------------Wellbeck--------------------

The failed FDB system? they guy was given FOUR games before Mr Parish in his wisdom thought a change was needed.
After abysmal home performances also when you have not scored a goal in any of your 4 games, could a change really be any worse.

Yes, yes it could. De FDB was sacked for a bloody good reason.

IIRC FDB only did it for the first game, and was also trying to play it with square pegs and round holes - some due to what was available to him, and others due to sheer stupidity on his part.

Last season, what was working well was we were playing a quasi 3-4-3 anyway when attacking, as the CBs would split and Luka (or Yo) would sit deeper, allowing AWB / PVA to push on.

I know people love to think that wingbacks are amazing, but AWB didn’t get one cross in on Saturday and I’m not sure if he did at Bournemouth

Iíd agree with this. Neither AWB nor PVA are classic wing backs who get crosses in. They both like to drive into a forward position and then lay the ball off or sometimes have a pop at goal (PVA).

To be fair we only lost 1-0 at Liverpool with a goal conceded very late on due to a bad mistake by Luka. At 0-0 Benteke had missed a sitter with about 20 minutes to go. We were all over Burnley and missed loads of chances and only lost to a goal from another bad mistake by Lee. The two home games were admittedly poor but no manager has worked out how to get us to win at home in the last 6 years.

3-5-2 just seems to me the system most vulnerable to injury and suspension for the club, especially in the stock of centre-halves for whom yellow cards and pulled muscles are an occupational hazard.
I think Hodgson deliberately goes for formations that can accommodate absences within the 25. Which is you know, good day-to-day club management. For all his supposed faults, Roy does play the 38 game approach.

Sacked for a very good reason? if it was for any behind the scenes reasons then it would be on hearsay as None of us know the truth of what may have happened, if anything at all. If its for performances on the pitch then can we really judge someone's methods/ability after FOUR games? Also can Steve Parish really say he was unaware of the style/type of football FDB would bring and for it to succeed would need his financial backing for the players that is needed, and most importantly it would take time to implement his methods, and FDB was given NONE of this.
I was not neccessarily a fan of FDB, but in fairness to the guy look what his management did at Ajax and how he brought a great club in the doldrums back to life again, also his superb playing record background gave him the credentials needed. Surely that would have influenced SP to employ him into bringing those style/methods to Palace, but to do so would need time and support and SP is not naive to believe otherwise.
But it is now history as we have all moved on, but we must Not make that mistake with Roy now just when he needs backing of the Board and also in the January window, also the full support of the fans whilst the team struggles currently, stick together and show patience is the only way we come out of our mini crisis we are experiencing.

Or you could look at what he did with Inter!

He succeeded with Ajax with the best youth players and Academy in that country. Couldn't do the same at Inter or at Palace.
