It's hard to judge him currently. He's a wide left midfielder IMHO. If he was to play in a front 3 he should be wide left. If he was to play in a front 2 he needs to play with a target man. But ideally we give him a chance to be RLC's replacement. He can play football and he works harder than RLC. No reason it can't work.

He's got a very good workrate and attitude.

Playing him up top alone is akin to Wayne Carlisle playing as a right back. It's not his natural position so don't be surprised when he struggles to have an impact.

It's really down to the manager and not the player. Allow Ayew to play wider and you will all see a different player.

I feel for him, watching Palace currently it's as though we are still in pre season trying to find a team and system of play, I rate Ayew as a squad player but not in his current role as our main striker.

I don't think he's been that bad; but he's just not the right forward to lead the line; and he looks like he's lacking confidence in front of goal.

He is not the right forward got the way we play. I am surprised no one at the club noticed that before signing him. Same with Sorloth. Put the ball on their foot and they will score.

He would have been suitable if we continued playing 442. It's unfortunate for him that we have switched to 451.

Not sure we should be so quick to judge a player who is giving his all but who is clearly being played out of position. If there's anyone to blame here then it's the manager for not playing him in his best position.

It's difficult for 'the manager' given the central striker options he has. The blame should go higher up for not addressing this known problem. Last January and this summer we tried to do things on the cheap and this is the result.

He runs about a lot and puts a shift in, was the general feeling walking away from Bournemouth. Question is what is his best position?

If we go back to 4-4-2 i would play him on the left side of the 4. his 'running about a lot#' would enable him to get up and down the line, join in with the defensive side of the game and get forward to support the attack - much like Townsend does on the right.

He likes to cut in and shoot (again like Townsend) and the ONLY time he looked anything like dangerous at Bournemouth was the occasion he did that and put the ball some way over the bar, a bit like.... well you get the picture.

That would give us similar players left and right and a bit of balance. Meyer IMO proved he is able to do what Cabaye has previously done for us, and probably even better. Luka has been disappointing but maybe he will get back the form of last season and Kouyate is another option there if not.

It should at least be a platform on which to build an attack whilst remaining tight and solid.

I wouldn't have him up top, even in a 2 at the moment as he doesn't look clinical, his goals tend to come from distance and he looks like he lacks confidence.

He did look better on the left against Bournemouth but also needed to be in box at same time to receive his on own cross as no one took up CF role when he went left.

That's exactly what I would do. Get Wilf up top with Benteke or Sorloth and have Townsend and Ayew out wide, especially for home games, in a 4-4-2. Meyer and Luka in the centre. We need to try this at home as our approach so far for home games has been ineffective.

A lot has been made of our better start to the season this year. Points and goals.

We have 1 more point at home than we did at this stage last year. We have 11 minutes to score on Saturday or we will be waiting longer this season to see a goal at Selhurst than we did last season! Failure to win would mean less points as well at home!

Agree. He's ok and in a team that has more possession he would probably do ok but we are looking for more of a target man. Can see him ever scoring 15 or more, looks very much like a 5 or 6 a season man. Which at this point would be nice

That does worry me. We seem to have sorted our dodgy home form out in the second half of last season but we've regressed again. We have to get something out of Saturday.

Absolute Pony. Up there with Frazier Campbell and Calvin Andrew. Stick Zaha and Townsend up front until Benteke or Wickham is fit
