Very few of the strikers linked as moving to Palace in recent transfer windows have justified their transfer fee at their new clubs where they have flopped.

It is not just a case of signing a player and expecting him to adapt immediately to scoring goals in the Premier League where many players have seen their careers stall and their goals have dried up.

When asked in the press conference if we'd like some strikers he basically said we have no money it's a freelance or a loan. We're trying very hard to find one it's a limited market. So we want a player they're own club doesn't want that is better than what we have, it's very difficult. He specifically mentioned Dougie and Steve during this.

Right now it's going to be one of Niasse or Victor. Or someone from Portugal, Greece etc that has fallen out with his manager or is in the last six months of his deal that we might be able to influence.

It is a disgrace that only one of our midfielders plays more passes forward than backwards and even more so that he is the player that cannot get in the team!

Regular scorer under Pardew, regular scorer under Allardyce, obviously didn't score in the 4 games under FdB but has struggled under Hodgson. Has he been injured, has he just hit bad form, is he striggling because of the manager? Could be any or all of the 3.

We have a £25m+ striker in the squad who has spent much of the first half of the past 2 seasons out injured but fit during the windows.

Personally, especially at home and not against the top 6 i would drop Kouyate for Meyer, use the defence of Luka, box to box of McArthur and better passing of Meyer.

Then you can bring Kouyate on to help shut up shop if you want to.

To be fair, you cant blame hodgson if he is missing penalties, 1v1's with the goalkeeper or quite frankly open goals. Same goes for zaha, who had numerous opportunities yesterday but didn't even get it on target once. Hodgson cant coach players to not lose their s*** in front of goal

I'm no fan of statistics but this does speak volumes. But I'd say it also coincides with the fact we have no center forward as an outlet to play a forward pass. Most sides tend to emphasise their build up based on the center forward they have.

Absolutely he can.

That is one thing you can help with good coaching. As you say there are several players who are struggling in front of goal who have performed far better previously - coincidence?

Surely this stat is absolutely meaningless unless you compare the stats of midfielders at other teams?

On 28% of all the passes the team has played this season have gone forward, 46% backwards, and 26% sideways.

60% of AWB passes are backwards, PVA 48%, that is our full backs having to pass backwards because they have few forward options.

I am comparing the players in our team and why the most progressive passer we have is continually not in the side and yet we struggle to create and score goals.

But he has often been used as a sub and brought on when we are chasing a game so thatís hardly a surprise!
