I was expecting zero trains.

Had a search on nationalrail app for Norwood J to East Croydon for after the game, but the app is suggesting those trains only running Boxing Day morning.

Trains won’t call at Selhurst or Norwood in the afternoon, citing the match.

Which is ridiculous.

It beggars belief that Southern are running trains to East and West Croydon from London Bridge which will not be stopping at the three nearest stations to Selhrsut Park. I wonder if there's any likelihood of the club taking this up with Southern.

Echoes of Southern not stopping at Wembley Central when Palace get to a final. Happens every time.

Cardiff have not taken their full allocation so some of block T has been opened up for home fans. Plenty of good seats currently available there.

I know it’s Boxing Day but quite surprised by that.

I don't think there are any trains between London and Cardiff which explains it. Means everyone has to go by road and if it were Palace away at Cardiff, I wouldn't fancy a 4 hour coach journey with a post christmas hangover!

Used to be train services on Xmas Day until early/mid 60s.
Was a pretty decent Boxing Day train service until late 70s when was stopped as a cost saving measure.

I know but they are still in first season excitement mode, when every game is an adventure. Especially the Welsh having a drink up in London.

They have sold their allocation. Sounds like they did ‘a Palace’, today ok the lower allocation to save money in case they didn’t sell out.

Not a surprise that they took a lower allocation given the lack of public transport

Agreed. The 157 is a decent little ride to the match.

But there are trains all day between London Bridge and East Croydon on Boxing Day. They even stop at Norwood Junction until midday when they mysteriously become a non-stop service.

Yes, it's unbelievable. They are non-stopping trains at Selhurst and Norwood Junction exactly at the time when lots of people might want to use them.

So you don't think rail workers should have a Christmas.

It's because the service will be very limited and won't have the capacity to handle the football crowds safely, so trains will not stop at Norwood Junction, Selhurst or Thornton Heath after 1pm. Can still get to East or West Croydon, though, and then walk or get the bus from there.
