For me it was between "Warrior Tomkins" and Ayew - Ayew got my vote as I thought it was probably his best game for us today, he was everywhere.

Sakho clearly our best player today IMO. Wan Bissaka and Ayew best of the rest.

Much as the football is a bit turgid at times it's not coincidence that "fans" continually say how poor our visitors are or that we are able to play our way out of trouble. Neither is the number of clean sheets.

The continual sh!t about who's been "dropped" and who should start is nonsense. Premier league football is a squad game. Batshuayi looked over the moon with his contribution to the second goal and desperate to score. Meyer moved the ball a lot quicker than Luka and JM when he came on but looks very uncomfortable when he gets the ball with back to goal in the middle in his own half.

Thought Mama was absolutely superb today, he is a wonderful defender. Yes he has the odd lapse when a pass goes astray but I think it's a lot more noticeable with him because he typically excels in what he is doing. Whether that is reading the play, passing the ball out and starting an attack or doing the dirty work and getting his body in the way, he is a brilliant defender.

Today he stopped everything coming his way, remained completely calm throughout and marshalled a defence that completely deserved the clean sheet.

There were definitely some good performances from the players ahead of him, but Mama gets my vote, he was a class above today.

l've voted for Ayew as l expect Sakho to play well every game.

Now l am hoping that Jordan becomes the player l thought we had loaned. He certainly put a shift in today.

Todayís was losing Mitrovic in the first 10 minutes to allow a free header. He always seems prone to error in the first few minutes (and with the ball on his right foot at any time.). Still an excellent display today, my MoM.

Poll has Sakho 112 and Ayew on 112 don't think I've ever seen such a clear 50/50 split. Kinda pleased for Ayew that he's got the recognition.

Souare likes a tackle and gets stuck in. Might not be as much of a footballer as PVA but he would have blocked some of those crosses flying in.

Sakho for me he was immense and led the defence superbly.
Guiata was assured in goal and it seems the defence is calmer with him behind them.
Batshuayi looked like the striker we have been missing, he wants the ball and shoots!!
Quick mention to Schlupp- so many people always critical of him but he was very good today and has contributed a few goals this season. Versatile squad player.

I thought it was Tomkins who missed the header at the front post to let Mitrovic in.

Although he missed an absolute sitter (Again) he did so well at the back I’ve given it to Sakho.

Playing Devil's advocate assuming Wilf gets another match ban so is out for West Ham game, if we won well next week would he really walk back in the team with Ayew joint MOM today and assuming Batman starts, playing Wilf and Andros on the wings in a 442 would be defensive suicide and dropping Townsend would be madness. Only option would be playing a 451 with Batman a loan striker or 442 with Wilf and Batman up front. And with all that to consider where would Benteke fit in? Nice dilemma for Roy to have for a change.

I’ve been thinking this myself.

If it was 1990 the team would pick itself

Back 5
Andros luka kouyate wilf
Benteke Bat

442 with two wingers these days would lead to us being overrun in the middle. Different if we are chasing a game.

I’d like to see Mayer play in front of a midfield two. Roy prefers MacArthur. This would mean having one of the two strikers on the bench. Im not convinced bat is the right choice for one up top with two wide strikers. Benteke looked a different player today, sharper, leaner, hungrier. Schlupp and Ayew who both played well today would be benched too.

Interesting decisions to be made and nice to have options.
