Such a frustrating game as I think we deserved to win it in the end but our inability to finish keeps costing us. At least we didn’t lose and a point isn’t bad but West Ham were there to be beaten.

Guaita - 6 - some good saves but clumsy for the penalty.
AWB - 7 - usual high quality performance if not at his best.
PvA - 5 - diabolical defensively including for the penalty. Amazing how often he bottles challenges, especially headers. He was very good going forward in the second half though.
Kelly - 6 - decent with one great tackle on Antonio.
Sakho - 7 - another good game. Don’t recall any mistakes.

Luka - 6 - decent enough but the yellow card restricted him. Lucky to avoid a second yellow.
McArthur - 5 - he’s not been at it recently. Missed a sitter but continued to work hard.
Schlupp - 7 - thought he was pretty decent. The problem with the midfield though is that it lacks creativity when these three play.

Townsend - 6 - one of his quieter games.
Wilf - 8 - our main threat and MoM I think. So pleased to see him get the equaliser.
Benteke - 5 - a shame after last week’s good performance but he was ineffective this time round.

Subs
Meyer - 8 - really good and linked the midfield and attack better than anyone.
Batshuayi - 7 - very bright but missed a good chance. Has to start as he’s by far our best striker.

The ref was abysmal and gave them everything and fell for their theatrics.

Hodgson - surely it’s now time for him to play our best team. Batshuayi has to start as does Meyer.

I agree that more competition would help him but he hasn't been as bad recently as some people seem to think.
Probably fair - and he's proven a lot of people wrong over the last year. Much improved defensively under Roy but he's dropped off in the last month. Good to see he acknowledged that last week.

This.

Poor for the penalty incident too.

He won’t be there next season. He’s is a class player and can’t believe one of the big boys didn’t buy him.

I agree, I think he’s a bit like Meyer and needs some time to adjust to the premier league.

My only thoughts for yesterday were;
Why does it take us so long to get onto games? At home for some reason we never seen to step up till 10 mins into the 2nd half.

Out passing can be quiet poor at times. When we’re about to break I can’t count the number of times someone has passed the ball behind their man, instead of putting it to rub onto.

Meyer needs to bulk up a bit. He came on and look like a little boy in the school yard, I fear for him when a few choice tackles come in on him. He played very well though.

We shouldn’t play Jeff and Jimmy Mac just one of them, we have enough to play Meyer.

Kelly should be pushing for a starting position
PvA needs a rocket up his arse.

West Ham are a bunch of dirty cheating weasels. Masters of the dark arts, we could learn a bit from them.

Our team do need to wise up. They are far too nice. We got the 3 bookings because the West Ham players made meals of it. Similar tackles were put it in against us but instead of making more of it our players just get up and carry on. Guess what no bookings.

Only get to see the games on tablet / TV so can't give ratings, but I thought both Meyer and Batshuayi made a pretty much immediate difference when they came on, and Keyy's tackle was great - get that even 1% wrong and it would have been a penalty.

Zaha for me but special mention to Kelly who never lets this club down.

Change
Schlupp for Kouyate
McArthur for Meyer
Benteke for Batshuayi

and we have a team on our hands

This is exactly the issue we have.

Adam Sells made a very good point on the FYP extra podcast post-match; with Wilf in the team - he's given a free-reign and let off defensive duties (although he tracked back well a couple of times Saturday).

I don't think you can afford to have two players like that - Meyer isn't that type of player to track back and make an impression defensively, which is why I think he's best suited to being used as a sub ( until he improves that part of his game or adapts physically to the Premier League).
