Sw19girl says they are majority shareholders. If that's correct and they can sell to who they like, that worries me.
According to SP various safeguards were put in place at the time of the sale so that the rump of CPFC2010 had a veto on certain fundamental decisions. As long as those Vetos are completelyy watertight there is nothing to worry about.

It is mindbendingly complicated as to who holds the power between the HoldCo and the Midco and all the other Cos but the US investors have a majority - Parish has a veto on certain matters.

Can't say i'm best pleased at the news but it doesn't surprise me they want to sell. They realise by now that their whole investment will go down the swanee if we get relegated and we've flirted with it every year.

We're not going to be cheap to buy and whoever does will have to sink a load of money into the stand so i imagine we'll be quite hard to sell but lets hope they don't find the wrong buyers who want to milk us dry.

Of no great relevance, but David Blitzer made a very generous donation to my fundraising two years ago. So I'm grateful for that whatever else.

The fact that the buyers are apparently other US based people makes that pretty unlikely
I think he wants people who want to grow the club, who may not necessarily be willing to input large sums, but are in it to grow the club for the long haul, basically not short-term speculators.

I do agree with that last sentence though. Any kind of US based investment vehicle is going to use the club to turn a profit as ruthlessly as it is able to, may well be just as bad as the Glazers at Man united.

The problem would be if they sell to someone who doesn't want to allow Parish to continue in the same way. They appeared to be satisfied to sit back and just see their investment grow whilst Parish was front of house.

Maybe we'll get a Vladimir Jordanski who won't work with Parish in that way or a Chinese takeaway.

This might be the end of Parish's time too.

It would've been nicer to sell after being given planning permission for etc. as this would've added to the value of the club and attracted bigger investors.

Que sera etc.

Always thought that investing in a football club looking to make money in the Premier League is pretty risky if you are buying outside of the top 6 clubs.

All the teams outside of the top 6 if they are managed in the wrong way can quite easily have a bad season and get relegated losing all of the big tv income that goes with the Premier League and a big drop in market valuation.

There is no profit in it on a day to day basis as all income received goes out on player wages/transfers and staff costs.

The only way owners make money is by increasing the valuation of the club.

This normally occurs by increasing the revenue streams and if the potential to increase it is there. At the moment the British TV Revenue seems to be flat but the potential seems to lie in the Overseas market with it's appetite for the Premier League.

Not too sure how accurate this is but the value i have seen for the club is £240 Million.

Have they not put quite a bit of money into player acquisitions since they "took over"?

Bearing in mind that most of our earned revenue goes straight into the players pockets?

At times like this, it might be clearer if Palace was a publicly traded company (I think).

Perhaps SP will see this as an opportunity to bring in bigger investors.
I wonder if the other shareholders will have first option on buying back their equity in the club?

I think that's (sadly) the likeliest option. He's been pretty much running the place for the best part of a decade now. Wouldn't be surprised if he wanted to take a break from it all and go into a different line of business. Bound to get a bit burnt out by it in time.

This certainly rings true to the whispers I’ve heard. Seems the Americans can’t fathom owning a club and it doesn’t make money..so much for thier due diligence process.

Will be interesting to see if we can find buyers who will let SP still run the day to day... most in my experience in such scenarios is unlikely / difficult especially considering the type of buyer we will need to find.

So, for someone who doesn't understand anything about football team ownership/investment, how concerning a development is this on a scale of 1-10?
