A younger squad

Based on their age at the start of next season we could field a team with an average age of under 25:

Butland, Ferguson, Guehi, Andersen, Mitchell, Olise, Hughes, Riedewald, Eze, Mateta, Edouard.

Add in the potential young talent like Banks, Rak-Sayki, Plange etc., and it shows how much the team has been revitalized.

Two seasons ago we had the oldest squad in the league and currently we are 15th. It can only get better.

All about Balance. You always need good experienced pros in any young team to teach, guide and set the example. Team spirit, professionalism and togetherness are also very important for a club like ours and on those fronts we have done well. You only have to look at some of the other clubs and players in regards to their behaviour and scandals. It’s a privilege to be a footballer in the PL.

Exciting times ahead. It’s been hard work for the SP and co over the years but there is now a vision and a plan. Everything in time will point towards the academy.

That's exactly what i keep saying to my son, this team is only gonna get better, exciting times.

Yep.

We do also need a balance of experience, especially with e.g Macca, Ward, Kouyate needing to be replaced or upgraded.

Can't all be kids.

With fergie possibly coming in for ward in the near future, and two new young up and coming midfielders needed next season our squad is going to look really fresh. Amazing in a year how we have transformed it, still think we need to retain. Ward, Jimmy mac, shluup, koyate(think he will be off thou). Obviously hughes is going to be a useful squad player. It's going to be another interesting pre-season we really could do with a couple emerging from the 23s. Hard still to tell but I think o brien and Jr's are the most likely to make the step up. Also think adaromola could push Mitchell in the next few years. By all accounts still needs to tighten up his game defensively but he looks rapid going forward. All in all really exciting times.

We do need experience but it then depends how often they are fit enough to be called upon.

We can't get around the fact that we have seen little re-sale value in too many players in recent years. This season is another one where it has all been money going out, and a substantial sum at that.
