Benteke's Return
Will it be the case that as Benteke's return is likely to coincide with the January transfer window that the clubs board will convince themselves that a new striker is not required. Especially if Wickham finally declares himself also fit?!!

Well if we then have 2 fit strikers why would the club spend vast amounts of money on another striker?

I think there is a very good chance of that happening. We'll get skinned trying to buy a prem quality striker in the January window anyway, I know it would be nice to bring someone in but it would be a real luxury and one I doubt we'd be willing to pay for

Guaranteed... as is the expression "like having a new transfer coming in" being used.

Has it escaped people's notice that we have centre mids playing wide midfield? That we have Townsend as the only attacking mid at the club if Wilf plays up front? That is the shocking thing really. We have 6 players in the squad who have played up front this season - Andros, Wilf, Benteke, Wickham, Sorloth and Ayew. It's blatantly obvious what we should be signing in January: pacy wide attacking midfielders.

Yes. Benteke and Wickham will be nearly fit and the board will not buy anyone else. Then both will get further injuries and we will try to get through to the end of the season and then blame bad luck with injuries.

But of course Roy knows he needs a striker , we simply can't rely on Benteke and Wickham coming back and scoring goals . |

Well we definitely absolutely need him fit. Roy already making sounds that we might not have any money to spend, regardless of Benteke's return and/ or form.

As long as he gets back to the form he showed before being injured................................

We simply have to sign a striker as well as one (ideally two) creative wide midfielders. The prospect of our premier league fate hanging in Benteke and Wickham's hands doesn't bear thinking about.
Wickham is a long shot as to whether he will play again at this level. There is no point banking on him. That's not a criticism of him but given his horrendous injury record with us we need to hope for the best but continue to expect the worst. We all hope Benteke comes back as the player we had in 2016/17 and not the one we've had to endure for the past year. But again this is all in hope rather than expectation. If the club fail to sign a decent striker then we'll deserve to be relegated. I'm confident they aren't that stupid though as they are watching the same games as us and this is the bluntest palace attack we've seen in years. |

Two completely unreliable strikers.

Don't we still have a loan spot open? Unless I'm forgetting someone Ayew is our only loan. I would think it would be highly likely that that loan spot is used for a striker. Hopefully a player from a top team struggling for game time. If RLC is also available on loan then, if permissible, Ayew goes back and RLC comes in.

We're going to need him playing, we don't have a pot to piss in this season due to FFP.

Day 1 would send Ayew back to Swansea and loan someone like Giroud

Giroud won't come to Palace all the time he's in a Chelsea squad that will probably win silverware this season

Hoping to see Benteke in action well before 1st January. I think.

Undoubtedly this will be the case. The usual stock answers will get trundled out. Even though Wickham being fit is totally unreliable just like Bentekes ability to score goals.
