Benteke has had chances. His expected goals vs goals he has scored tells you that. CB misses a awful lot of chances. I think we need a striker that will sacrifice his own game for Wilf. Play Wilf as False 9... let him have a free role. Get the striker to work the back line, with the idea of opening up space for Wilf.

Just because he doesn't pointlessly chase down defenders it doesn't mean he isn't a hard worker.

If Sorloth had been given a decent run of games, it would have given an answer to whether we play better with Benteke because he is a better player or whether its because the team shape is better with a proper target man. It really has been a wasted opportunity, its not like we have been successful playing Ayew/Andros/Wilf combo.

The guy is totally shot, but demanded two years, so moneybags Bournemouth coughed up. 4 Prem goals last season (2 against Palace ), 1 in the second half season, and zilch this year. |

Is the consensus that 'he'll be like a new signing'?

Roy a couple of times in his press conferences has alluded to Benteke recovering a lot quicker than was first expected. Never suggested a return time but I guessed it might be late Nov/early Dec if the initial prognosis was mid Jan.
Oh and i nearly forgot....he’ll be like a new signing when he returns.

This gets quoted time and again. I’ve been as pissed off with the amount as chances as anyone on here and it drives me up the wall, BUT it’s not his fault how much WE paid for him or how much we agreed to pay him. He has a job to do whether he earns a quid a week or a million. Money shouldn’t be brought into it. |

Yep, it's obvious. He doesn't play at Bournemouth because they actually have decent strikers - e.g. Wilson, King. He doesn't start because they are so good. He'd walk in our team.

Will need to be because if Sorloth wont be played up top either there is nothing at all left up our sleeve to suddenly deliver wins. Feel a bit for the deluded folk all fascinated by January. I don't think they realise how many games there are before then that we will be dropping should we not be playing a CF.
