Do we need a succession plan for post Roy and do they ever work?

Roy's a chairman's dream. Does a great job without being backed in the transfer market ; )

Only if we get a new coach in to challenge him , introduce some fresh ideas and encourage some in game management.

Certainly needs a shake up, in my opinion and as much as Roy is well liked and respected, the players are bored.

What utter tosh. The players will be playing in the EPL next season, on contracts that reward them accordingly. Of course they could always elect to get relegated and play in the Championship. Ask Leeds, Villa, Boro, players if they would be bored playing under Roy in the EPL. |

I think he needs to stay because his replacement will be a disaster. We only seem to make good appointments when in serious trouble.

We need to be planning the replacement to Roy's replacement then

After all the managerial changes and other heartaches Our club has gone through in the past several years, to now have gone through 2 seasons of unexpected stability is mainly down to the efforts of Roy Hodgson in keeping CPFC in the premiership.
Yes there have been times when we all would have liked to see things differently on and off the pitch, but the reality is when a club has limitations as we do then it's and fans ambitions need to reflect that, do fans seriously believe our final positions in the past Two seasons suggests we have actually Underachieved? In my opinion our First Team currently have i would say 2 outstanding players and 5 good to very good premiership players leaving us with 4 players we certainly could improve on and that is where our problems lay, the main culprit being our lack of a consistent goalscorer but also not having a creative central player has held us back, along with the Midfield and Central Defenders not contributing with goals from Open play. Those shortcomings then restricts the manager from playing with the freedom and positivness we fans want to see, as the man at the helm his main objective is to then avoid relegation which the Board along with Fans take for granted that we SHOULD avoid, which he has achieved. Just ask Fulham fans what they are feeling now after having spent in excess of £100m on players to then as good as getting relegated in all tense and purpose at the end of March is shambolic, what would they have given to have Roy Hodgson in charge even with his so called "faults/boring" style, if it meant they would have stayed up. So when people call for change and into thinking all will be well with a new man at the helm may well be in for a surprise, just be aware of what you wish for. |

Roy absolutely has to stay whatever imho.
Is there anyone seriously wanting a new manager if Wilf leaves ? Wilf and Roy leaving this summer would mean serious jeopardy. |

I would say 'yes', except the second answer is 'no'.

I'm open to change. But I also think next season will be tough and Roy continuing is probably the most pragmatic option.
Obviously it's far too early to draw conclusions, but on the face of it I can see the division panning out into the following mini leagues Top 6 -- Leicester Wolves Everton -- Watford West Ham -- Palace Newcastle Bournemouth Southampton -- Burnley Brighton Sheff Utd Norwich Play off winner A change of manager may well kick us on into the top half. Equally, it could just as easily see us dropping into the 16-20th places. We'll likely lose Wilf, AWB and Sakho in the next season or two and a steady hand at the tiller could help us to prepare for their departure. |

If we lose wilf we are ****ed. Without him we wouldn’t have won half the games we have.

It's less about the manager I suppose, than the structure around the club. Watford went through several, then hit upon one they are happy with. But he has a bad start next season, he is off; without I imagine any great changes to the 'structure'; buying, selling, coaching etc.

Next 2 seasons maybe even by next season will likely see a huge overhaul of the squad.
Outside of Roy or Sam A I'm struggling to see anyone else who I would be confidant could keep us up while this happens |
