Why we need Roy Hodgson to remain at the helm this summer.

Scrumpy’s post(60) Page 3 of pre match press conference and Palaces financial power.
With ffp cycle about to refresh this summer imo it’s important that we carry on as we currently ie being careful with money as we have to live within our means.
Roy’s views and understanding of this are exactly what we need. We’ll grow from stability and Roy gives us that for sure, of course this season hasn’t gone to plan but injuries to the frontmen has been a big factor in this and you only had to look at last Saturday to see the confidence return to the side as we finally had options up top. Roy isn’t perfect no manager is but he’s a perfect fit for us.

Cheers to Stumpy for highlighting this issue .

It’s not like Roy’s the only man who could work under a tight budget, I’m sure there’s quality coaches out there who’d be willing to come to Palace and primarily work with what we already have. But all in all, I’m happy for him to stay. Gets the club, and will keep us comfortably mid table. Really not confident about any pushes for Europe in the foreseeable future tbh, likes of Everton, Wolves, West Ham, you could even argue Bournemouth have so much more spending power/better connections than us. Comfortably mid table, good cracks at the cup, and ideally some kind of long term vision with the squad, investing for the future, not just the present. All this until the new stand comes, and I’m happy.

While i agree there’s others , how many would you trust to do best for our club?. Tbh don’t give a shit about other clubs going for Europe with some living beyond their means . We’re slowly accumulating a very good squad.

Think Roy will go when he wants. I do laugh at comments when things go wrong and people say he is on his last chance type of post, as if he needs the job. man is 73? probably got a bob or two stashed . He is in the game because he loves it and in my opinion this club in particular.

We tried getting a manager who was young, full of new ideas, brilliant as a player and very successful at a big club called Ajax and look how that worked out.

Roy is a magical fit for us and let's just love it while it lasts.

Perfect manager for our club. He clearly has a plan, he knows the players, has got rid of those who aren't good enough and is trying to off load a few more. A bit of financial backing in the summer and I believe he will lead us to having a very good season next season and may even achieve it this season if we go near in the FA Cup.
'Fans' calling for his head are deluded and have very short memories (FDB).

Winning the Dutch league with Ajax isn’t much of an achievement. Did he ever take them past the group stage in tge Champions league?

I like Roy, I really do. His stubbornness is a positive and a negative. Could we do any better right now ? Probably not. Could we do any better next season with a change ? Maybe

I wouldn’t be averse to him being here next season but we’re not succession planning very well are we

When pushed it's hard to come up with any viable alternatives that are available and out there. Yes there are those currently in other jobs that may be suited, but for me, Roy is fine doing the job that is being asked of him. I'd certainly be happy going into another season with him at the helm and I'd certainly trust him to have more of a plan should we lose Wilf this summer than many others, because he at least appears to understand the club as a whole.

Will be interesting to see his teamsheet at 2pm. With Schluup and Benteke coming in for Kouyate and Zaha a last week and Wilf back this week, who drops out and what does he do about Batshuayi?

Agreed - he’s our Bobby Robson - loved his video this week where talks about captaincy and listening to the views of senior players. You only get that with experienced managers. The team look extremely well coached and fitness looks spot on. You can throw in players attitude and respect for the manager.

We have all been frustrated at his lack of subs but this can be explained by injuries and poor options on the bench (and stubbornness).

All in all, our best manager since Coppell.

Continues to do a remarkable job.
Amazed after the de fraud incident any of our “fans” would want to change our style of management.
The job is his long as he still wants it.

Roy is a magical fit for us and let's just love it while it lasts.
Summed up perfectly.

What i would also add is what RH has achieved in keeping us up last season was nothing short of incredible and should be truly appreciated, he then followed it up this season when working under difficult circumstances and not supported by the Board even when informing the Board of our shortfalls in the squad, to then as good as seen us to safety or very nearly, yet these achievements are still not fully appreciated by some.
Yes he has made errors in judgement like selection and when making subs also being possibly overly cautious, but lets not forget when working with your hands tied with the limited quality available then your priority should always be avoiding relegation, and that has what he has done.
As you rightly say we have tried with what we all hoped was a new direction manager FDB, who the Board would have known what qualities he would/not bring but needed backing, it was allways bound for failure if not supported and to be sacked after FOUR games said it all. We previously had very good proven managers in Pulis and Allardyce who when taking over did what was asked of them, but when it came to being supported in the transfer market so as to take the club to the next level, same old story.
Yes we have to prepare for Roy possibly leaving over the next 12 months, and as we can never attract the best of managers due to our financial constraints then a club of our standing need to promote from within, with initially people working within the system under current set up and then stepping up.
Who? i would like to see someone like Reid our ex coach brought back into the fold to work and learn from Roy's experience, and then being promoted to manager obviously only if warranted, or another option is the excellent young coach for a similar role would be our ex Ben Garner, these are people who understand what CPFC are about like its true expectations and achievements.
As an alernative approach then someone like David Wagner appointed would be good, he would have learnt from any mistakes made from his time in the premiership but also what is needed to succeed, yes he would be excellent choice.
