With his record and his contract situation, he's not worth more than 500k of anyone's money.

Move on.

Move on.
Why move on when in a fortnight Everton may well start looking at accepting 500k or less, afterall lets not forget that he will cost them a further 300k+ in wages if he stays till the summer.

Don't forget that Everton won't lose him on a free. As he's under 24 they'll still be entitled to compensation even if his contract expires.

Highly unlikely.

They will surely not offer a new contract to a player who they have little to no intention on actually playing.

Didn't they forget to do that with Gosling who then walked off to Newcastle for nothing. Cannot see them making the same mistake twice.

Yes but then Vaughan can accept that contract offer and they'll be stuck with a player they don't want.

Leave it till a couple of days before the window shuts. Wack 400k on the table and say take it or leave it.

They neglected to offere a contract IN WRITING to Gosling who buggered off. The key difference is they wanted to keep Gosling, he was in their plans. Vaughan it seems is not.

What Gosling done was out of order, for a big, experienced, professional organisation like Everton to 'forget' to offer a contract in writing is still poor.

Vaughan is not wanted, but it seems doubtful we'll get him.

Why?

Zero talk on transfers which has generally been our policy. We were never going to be in at the sort of money that was being talked about. When sense prevails i would be shocked if we were not still in dialogue with Everton towards the end of the window if Vaughan is stil there.

Very possible but he's one of the few strikers that would come here. We have no time to mess about. If it were me I'd get him this afternoon ready for Swansea.

A suspicious mind might think that was a "come and get me Doug" plea from Vaughan.

It may well be but i suspect, Everton will still be asking too much.

Also that Vaughan may be required to waive and outstanding wages with Everton in order to leave. ie Everton will not have to pay the balance of his present wages compared to what he gets if he does sign.

Isn't it the case that it needs to be an improved offer as well? They can't just offer him a 1 p/w to ensure it goes to a tribunal. It has to be 15,001 per week in his case

IF you leave it late enough and no one else has got him they might not have any choice but to accept the offer.

I'm sure even if the fee was 750k it wouldn't all be at once. It could be based on appearances, promotion next season etc

Sorry it was mor ein reference to somoen saying we should get him in for Saturday.

I agree on 31st Jan Everton are likely to accept whatever is on the table as a firm bid.

I can't see what other club would take him. I'd have said Blackpool before DJ Campbell started scoring goals.

We'll just have to wait and see what happenes. If he hasn't gone anywhere by the end of the transfer window then we should make an offer. By then we might even be out of the relegation zone.

The thing that bothers me the most is that he would have to take a pay cut. But that's up to him, whether he wants to play football or sit his contract out at Everton.

Supposedly he did just that when he came to us on loan. He also knows in 6 months he has no contract and it could be difficult to get a decent one then if there are a number of 'good' championship stikers without a contract.

31st Jan? Palace are in a desperate position they can't leave it until 31st Jan in case the deal can't be made. They must a have a striker and that means having a deal before then. I believe no one else of that standard would come to Palace due to the current position. He know's the score, he had to take a pay cut before and would do again. We need to make a take it or leave it offer, if rejected move on to other targets. Cardiff have moved on by getting Parkin and Hull seem to have lost interest, doubt there's anyone else after him.
