Or it's a more balanced view than calling fans who would have liked him as manager after the work he did at Hull "shameful and sickening". I don't think he's great, I don't think he's better than Roy but we could do a lot worse with our current squad.

Currently 3 EPL clubs managerless.

Is this a record at any one time?

Nobody would be interested if was an ugly bugger called Mark Silver and he came from Romford.

It’s amazing what a slightly exotic name, continental good looks and a sharp fashion sense can do for your managerial reputation.

The same thing happens with players. Jose Campana was never gonna make it despite the cool sounding name and Palace fans screaming for him to get game time. He would have been written off from day one if his name was Joe Camp and he came from Crawley.

What had Silva ever done to get a good reputation?

Hull - relegated
Watford - okay ish but was gash towards the end and sacked.

Everton - gash - sacked!

From the TV news it appears that Silva and the senior club owners / management were locked away 'in talks' all day. I don't understand why. Surely it's a brief conversation, "do you want me here or not, no? OK cheerio" - then leave the lawyers to argue about compensation.

The way his Hull team surrendered at our place when they needed a win to survive told me all I needed to know about Silva as a manager and motivator of people.

If Moyes goes back to Everton as rumoured I doubt Wilf will want to go there for ANY money. And he'll be relieved he ain't there already.

I thought Everton were perfect for him as well. There's no point Wilf leaving for a top six club, only to sit on the bench.

People trying to hound cpleigh like he's some sort of erring politician that needs to be brought to account. Shit happens, get over it.

He's an Everton legend and keeping with the fashion of passing the reins, even on a temporary basis, to a club insider.

A bit like Joe Jordan even now, not the sort of bloke you want to get on the wrong side of!

The funny thing is, when we played them late last season at SP, full of confidence having just beaten (at the time, a half decent) Arsenal, they gave us a Football lesson and we somehow scrapped a 0-0 draw, having been pretty well dominated.
And I thought from Wilf's point of view, a move to Everton, actually looked quite a good one, in the late Summer. I thought they were a Club that were on the up.
I wonder what that chat was between Wilf and Silva (that was pictured in the papers) after our game in August.
'See you in January, Wilf' ??
Don't think so, now !!??
