Yes but we need to be forming good bonds with these banana republics so that when we get Brexit done we can get a fast and quick trade deal which will be great for Britain......

As you say above, Morales is self-exiled. The army havenít taken over the streets and havenít arrested Morales. It is not a coup. He also said he stands with the Bolivian people for democracy. Which given the OAS report is a little unfortunate, though perhaps he has a different view on electoral naughtiness than I do, or perhaps he hadnít seen it or it wasnít out in which case perhaps he was a little quick to judge.

Still I suppose this saves Corbyn the embarrassment of phoning in to congratulate Morales live on TV as he did with Maduro.
I was damning Corbyn because he doesn't need to be commenting on this in the midst of a UK General Election campaign, where perception is everything. It just adds more fuel to the flames of the right-wing press fire that dogs him. He may well be correct in his analysis, but it doesn't serve his cause at home right now.

Yes, I'm certain if he had done this Bolivians would have been fine with him ignoring the constitution to allow himself to keep standing for President.

He would have stayed in power for ever like other leaders on the right in South America, like Macri.

This literally makes no sense.

He was popular because what he did when he came to power worked and generated growth and improved living standards. He didnít do what Venezuela did, he was largely market friendly. Foreign investment didnít run for the hills, it stayed.

He was losing popularity because of economy begging to suffer because of external factors, corruption/scandal and because he pissed off the indigenous population (which was a little strange because he was indigenous himself).

So unless you think that nefarious foreign interests were so unhappy when they already had access to the market that they bought off the police and the army and faked the electoral naughtiness, itís highly unlikely to be true.

Surely it’s not hard to recognise that he did good things as a president, but also that he should have found a successor.

I would also say he should have gone further in workers control of society.

That aside the military telling politicians to stand down is clearly not on. Yes some of the opposition is doing it in reaction to the electoral situation but it’s blindingly obvious some are reactionary, including the police and the army.

Name me many examples in history where the police have sided with progressive movements.

Something of an understatement there

I was going to say, you can tell its not CIA backed because its not a f**king shambles, with a death toll in the tens of thousands.

Its actually a South American democracy acting in a manner that actually seems to promote democracy and due process.

Bit of an understatement, as the tendency has been to utilising Puppets to serve business interests and promoting genocide as a domestic policy to achieve it.

The numbers murdered by US / Western Puppets in South America from the 1950s to 2000 is pretty staggering.

I see they are burning indigenous flags and cutting them off army uniforms in La Paz. Seen "Fuera indios" graffiti painted on the main streets as well.

I know, though I think it's probably similar to JRM saying that Grenfell residents died because they weren't white public school boys - won't take away a single vote in an election. On the other hand I believe Rees Mogg has now been benched for the duration, Like Abbott at the last election.

It seems the leader of the protesters is rather a big fascist. Looks bleak for the indigenous population.

the usual tired old tropes from the right.Thre is substantiated evidence about US interference in South American states from Chile years ago to Venezeula throughout the 21st century which creditably has been repelled. it is the same pattern again in Bolivia, an attempted coup to try to put in place an American puppet
