Absolutely. Test after Test of dreadful batting from the same batters. Time for change. Go for youth, bye likes of Sibley and Crawley.

Root should go as captain, he doesn't inspire, and should bat at four. Stokes or Broad to captain.

Painful.
Pathetic.
Embarrassing.

Top order simply not up to it. Too many "batsmen" throwing their wicket away.
Ball probably doing TOO much yesterday. Extravagant movement meant Aussie play-and-miss beat the bat by miles. Less movement today, coupled with an inexplicable inability to play sensible shots/leaves to a moving red ball means we get rolled over without a whimper.

Bye bye Ashes

Lots and lots of problems, and no obvious solutions. But to start.

Root has to stand down as captain, revert to four and just bat.
Roy, three tests too many really - never an opener at test level. There's a reason he doesn't open in the Championship with Surrey. Never understood the decision to play him there, particularly as we tried it with Hales a few years ago and that didn't work. It immediately puts the team under pressure and on the back foot when he inevitably gets out early swishing at stuff, but I presume he's been told to play his natural game, so maybe not entirely his fault. But enough already, it's already tainted his OD heroics - just let him do that.
Denly, again, I like him, but clearly not good enough for this level.
Sam Curran has to come in at least, and Woakes should be pushed up the order (three??) as he seems to be the only player with a bit of technique right now.

There is big argument to bring in Morgan as a Mike Brearley style skipper, isn't there, even if the middle order is a bit packed (or not even functional at the moment)
Morgan in the test side? I really do hope thatís a joke?

As I said earlier, Sibley, Northeast, Pope and even Foakes for Bairstow should be given a go if we go 2 down. They surely canít do any worse than this current bunch and at least they have all had solid red ball seasons

Not quite but only another 50 to be almost certain. They donít look in any trouble either at the moment

What a waste

Yup agree.

Mind you if Warner and Smith stand in did not score round 130 odd in their first innings, Australia would have been bowled out for less than 50.....but it didnt happen....so I wouldn't necessarily write this off just yet (ahem, please don't lol)

If England can just dig in and knuckle down . . .

. . . against Nathan Lyon . . .

More chance of Stuart Hall being installed as Young Children's Tsar.

Morgan can't do any worse either but at least there would be a bit of leadership, if only for a few games. Agree with you on the rest!

DI Gower has just called Joe Root a captaincy genius, so you naysayers can **** off.

My cricket knowledge is limited. Can anyone tell me why we don’t bat as though it were a one day game? Our totals seemed higher when we only had 50 overs to get them.
