Hey, we could play Luka at CB and Townsend right wing-back. What could possible go wrong?

Nothing says a professional transfer plan like leaving our squad totally unbalanced risking relegation to possibly sign a player hoping that his team are relegated, that's if he can even cut it in the PL.

What. A. *******. Joke. The fact we have not signed a replacement for AWB is indefensible.

It's all making sense now. In order to increase capacity in the Arthur, we will narrow the pitch up (we have about 24 yards available and can still be legitimate). I reckon we could squeeze in an extra 6-8,000 and can use the money generated to pay the over-inflated salaries of our injury prone and geriatric recruits.

Not after they sold Daniel James and got the Ayew's off their books.

I'll defend it. To replace AWB you'd need to spend around £50million.

Of course to sign another recognised right back might work out a bit less. Let's be honest, whoever goes in there whether it's Joel or someone else, AWB will be a hard act to follow. I've got no issues with Joel Ward but relying on him to stay injury free really is a bit of a daft gamble.

That's not our remit as fans. It's to expect that the club know what they are doing.

It was clear that AWB was not going to be here either beyond the summer or the next. We should not have even sold him if we were not confident of securing a replacement.

The signing of Cahill and keeping kouyate for CB just got even better.

Long term we didnt get the player we want so haven't blown the money on a desperate signing. Castagne on a free next summer and we are sorted
The effect on the team going forward without a RB who can bring the ball out and actually have pace to break down the right is a huge part of our team.

Let me re-phrase - not signing a RB of any nature (which should have been a starter) is a ******* joke.

Right back position

Just play CBs at right back/full back like we play CMs as wingers and wide midfielders. Pace? That’s a luxury we cannot be so entitled to demand!

A small club like us doesn’t really need a right back anyway. Right backs are for the big teams

Joel Ward will be absolutely fine and guaranteed never injured, stop the bed wetting

Steve Parish and Director of Football Dougie Freedman have had ample time to find a replacement for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, instead, we are now an injury at full-back away from a crisis.

Furthermore, with the only change to the front line from last season the departure of loanee Michy Batshuayi, the team looks weaker in defence and in attack.

In signing a centre back and two central midfielders arguably, we have strengthened in the only areas that did not need strengthening.

Crisis is a much over used word. Plenty of players would do a job there. Not to mention it isn’t the end of the world to play youth! As was proven at RB last season!

I'd agree with that, I was not a fan of selling him as I think £50m was way too cheap and I think it will prove to be. Perhaps SP thought the money was too good to turn down and it was now or never situation as United were close to a deal with another RB.

Never has been. We’ve had ward most of the time AWB rarely charged forward with the ball. Ward gets forward well, his crossing was better than AWB and TFM. He gets more assists and the odd goal.

AWB was a wonderful defender, great great tackling and pace but offered litte in attack. He will I’m sure but usually ran into trouble if he did more than he available for a pass. Which ward is good at

Townsend is the pace that breaks down the right, the right back always looks for him

Think it may have also been to do with accounts ending on June 30th and the sale to be assigned to 2018/19
