Man City have made far better sides than us look ordinary.

They beat Chelsea 6-0 ffs.
Bournemouth didn’t have a single shot in 90+ minutes.
Arsenal didn’t have an attempt for the entire second half.

However we played Saturday shouldn’t be even a remote factor in the managers future

He’s scored in 3 of our wins this season, so they’ve been important goals not the 5th in a 5-0 say.

Besides Luka, he is our only Midfielder up on his xG as well, suggesting he takes his chance more often than the others, all of which are .38 (Townsend) or more below their expected total (Meyer .75, Kouyate 1.42, McCarthur 1.48).

That is still something worth considering as to why he plays. Again, not saying it’s 100% justified but you can acknowledge the thought process.

It should because it was typical of what we do every week.

We play counter attacking football, if we end up behind at say 60mins, the other side no longer has to attack thereby negating our counter attacking approach. If we don't change anything we inevitably lose. In that position Roy waits until the last 10mins to change his formation to more of an attacking formation. This is repeated in every game we go behind it doesn't work you can provide no evidence it does.

Throwing around the scores of other teams makes no difference, you still can't and we don't win games in 10mins. TBH in the Spuds game I thought they were there for the taking and looked tired in the last 20/25mins and we did nothing until the last 10mins.

This isn't about Man City it happens in every game we play.

We only have plan A because that's the profile of player we have. Have you really thought about why we have never been able to break teams down in all the years we've been up. Everyone knows if you either retain the ball or park the bus we'll struggle because we've been terrible in front of goal for years and have never really prioritised creative midfielders choosing to instead rely on Yala or Wilf who both require space to run into to be at their best and trigger a one on one. This is not a manager issue. We've had loads of them it's the players or more specifically our player recruitment over the years.

What happened to him in Turkey? I thought he had moved over there.

He was definitely one for us to have kept tabs on in the Championship but the Premier League is probably a big step for him.

6 seasons in the A-League, won it twice, second another 2 times. In that league he has a very good record and you can only perform well in the league you are in.

Agree the main thing would be the former player link.

Only other place he managed was a low Turkish side but that did not go too well.

Its a culmination of the home performances this season. Sundays result and performance was no shock or surprise which is annoying

Maybe partially true but still doesn't make use of what we have fully. Corners are poor . Crossing is poor. Shooting is poor, subs not given time to make an impact. Players ignored e.g Wickham , Jairo.

Corners have been dross for years baring a little spell under Pardew when we scored loads. Crossing has been uniformly crap for years also we used to have the highest crossing stats in the division but really low chance creation and conversion. We've always been crap at shooting too. The difference now is we have one creative player we always used to have two or three. IE Wilf + Punch, Yala or Wilf, Punch and Cabaye. There's an argument that baring Punch and Yohan the other two don't help break down packed defences and really it was RLC, Wilf, Yohan plus Andros and PVA feeding off each other that improved us so much last year. Them two not being replaced has left us as the somewhat boring defensive team we've always been.

Palace have wasted a season
Once again, faced with superior opposition, Crystal Palace only tried to win the game having lost it.

At Tottenham, they were 2-0 down before getting on the front foot late, and delivering several scares; against Manchester City, the same scoreline sparked life and Palace actually pulled a goal back before being caught by a counter-attack.

Yet this isn't a weak squad. It is potentially a match for any of the six teams above them in the Premier League table, yet too often they go out to play with minimum ambition.

Crystal Palace have had a wasted season with Roy Hodgson employing such cautious tactics +8

Leicester are seventh, but Palace have beaten them home and away this season. They have beaten Wolves away, too. If Palace lose Wilfried Zaha and Aaron Wan-Bissaka this summer, Roy Hodgson's caution may be justifiable.

This season, however, has been a waste.

Martin Samuel wrote this in his column today. He maybe a tosser but glad somebody in the media has noticed this.

It has been a miserable season, full of missed chances, poor decisions and rank bad luck at times. However, we have to careful of what we wish for.

We will probably end up on about 42/43 points. That is pretty much par for Palace. But for three or four missed chances, it could be nearer 50. It seems to me that it will be much easier to drop back to 35 points than go up to 50, so Roy has in my view done as good a job as anyone could ask. He is more than capable of repeating it despite that fact that he will lose AWB and Bats, and probably Benteke too.

Can we really expect more than a 44/45 point season? I would stick with him but ask him to work with Parish to choose the right successor.

Based on the amount we've spent and the players we have, yes we can expect more than a 44/45 point season. Especially gifting Brighton and Watford 6 points each. Not to mention failing to score against a crap Cardiff side.

Those 2 bits in bold contradict each other!

"It's not a weak squad, good enough match for any top 6 side", yet then says take out 1 single match winner, and the way we play is then justifiable?

We've beaten Leicester, Wolves and Man City playing the way we did Sunday, being in the game throughout the contest, which is what you need to do against sides away from home. We struggle to break teams down at home and almost surrender possession to force them to come at us so we can do what we're good at. It's frustrating, but it's hardly new, we've been dogshit at home for years.

We have plan A and no plan B, cause plan B left last summer.

Why do they contradict?

It may help if you read it correctly. You suggest it said it was a match for the top 6 - it didn't. It says the squad is a match for any of the 6 sides above us, Leicester, Wolves, Everton, West Ham, Bournemouth and Watford. That is very much the case.

As with all those squads, if you take out their best 2 players it changes things dramatically, however with the squads as they are people outside of Palace are starting to see we have under-performed with this squad this season due to tactics.

Yes the next 6 sides not the top 6 sides.

Take out their 2 best players and they still have squads to compete. We don't? Our replacements for those 2 players are not even close to their quality.

I don't see 1 match winner in Zaha being the reason we should be competing with the 6 above us, but then without him, our play can be entirely justifiable? It backs up the fact our squad is not all that great, bar 2 players?

It could be argued Leicester, West Ham and Everton would cope adequately without their 2 best players, because their squad has the replacements. Possibly Wolves, Watford and Bournemouth would suffer a similar fate to us though.

I still struggle to see this under performance with the squad that you do. We've battled relegation for 5 of the last 6 seasons (some would say all 6 seasons), 16 players were still made up of Pardew's destruction, 20 under Allardyce's tutelage, where we lost to utter dross. Each to their own and all, but this squad really isn't all that IMO.
