Victor Moses joins Fenerbahce on 18-month loan deal

Reading the BBC gossip page and one of the snippets was Moses saying he is ready to leave Chelsea. He had a real role as a RWB under Conte, but Sarri's 433 has seen him drop out of the first team picture completely.

I know some will say obsession with ex players, but this one feels different. Moses would not only add some real technical ability and flair to our team, he would also provide competition and depth in attacking areas.

I have no idea if he'd be available on loan, although I do imagine we are keeping close tabs on RLC, but one could argue that signing Moses would present a smaller risk than a player from a foreign league.

*Edit. Sorry, forgot to search. Feel free to merge with existing summer thread.

Not for me.

He found new life as a RWB but was struggling big time as an attacking player at several clubs.

Unless we are planning to move to a 3 at the back...

I've not seen anything when I've seen him playing for either Chelsea or Nigeria that made me think it would be nice to have him back at Palace.

Just seems a totally different player to the one that left Palace.

He really isn’t that good, wouldn’t take him over Andros. Like Marcos Alonso, who is also very average, was made to look better and had his flaws papered over at wing back in Conte’s system.

Still the most talented youth product I've ever seen at Palace, and I include Wilf in that.

Would love to see him, AWB and Zaha in the same team.

Since 2016/2017 he played 62 matches with 8 coming off the bench.

Not bad for a player who 'really isn't that good'

Not sure his end product is good enough. Had to adapt to playing wingback to get near the team. He doesn’t score enough also, would prefer someone younger and up coming.

His reluctant sale to Wigan literally saved the club and it was a fantastic gesture by Victor to leave the club that he loved.

I would love to see him back in the Red and Blue sash strip of Palace as in his early years he was brilliant for both Palace and England at various levels where he played as a forward not as a wing-back.

Palace could play him in his natural position up front where he holds several scoring records at tournaments for England Youth.

Victor was another player that England allowed to slip through their fingers after doing well at Youth level.

Can't believe he's still only 27. Feels like he's been around for a couple of decades.

Exactly. He's not as exciting to watch as Wilf, but I used to love his low centre of gravity, directness and strength on the ball. If we're in the market for another winger/wing-back then I can't think of anyone better.

He'd certainly have the love of the fans, unlike at his other clubs (Wigan aside).

Townsend would not get anywhere near the Chelsea first team. Moses was also a regular under Benitez and played a forward free role. Not very good? You are nuts. Only 27 and would walk in our team. Love to sign him.

At wing back in a 3-5-2. Does Palace play that? My point was that take him out of a very specialised role in a specific system that papers over his flaws, and he’s not very good.

Moses was a regular in the Europa league against mostly mediocre sides you mean, back when he was still a hot young prospect. Yes, Townsend would be nowhere near that Chelsea team. Nor is Victor now that they’re not playing 3-5-2.

Bit unfair to label Victor purely as a wing-back. Conte converted him to that role a couple of years ago but prior to that he was generally a winger, wide striker for Palace & Wigan (and his loan spells at Liverpool, west-Ham etc).
He's a genuine PL player and would greatly enhance our squad but probably not a priority in January.

He’s a good wing back, not a very good winger. Hence not making much of an impression at West Ham or Stoke, two sides you’d hope he’d be good enough for if he’s also good enough to improve Palace. You have to go back to 2013 for when he made a bit of an impression at Chelsea as a winger, and then further back for Wigan.
