Speak to any doctor and they will tell you these events are becoming more common.
What about CJD or mad cow disease?, hardly a wild animal but bought and sold in live markets in the uk

Did the govt take peopleís / companies money off them during times of war ?

My point was the economy was generally very buoyant a month ago before this hit the fan.

A lot of the money will literally be sat in banks. It hasnít disappeared like it did in 07/08 (which is a crash people are comparing this to)

As soon as this clears, the investment cash will start to flow again. Businesses that are dormant now, will be able to start up again.

Whilst totally different to 07/08, this will not prove to be as damaging in the medium / long term

Think you all are being far too optimistic tbh. We’re early into this and there are already countries using rubber bullets to enforce social distancing measures, countries debt ratings being downgraded, businesses going to the wall, trade wars etc.

Personally I fully expect to see a huge wave of global civil unrest with many governments using extreme policing measures brought in to counter the outbreak to try and subdue its populations.

Unemployment will shoot to 10% to 15% in the UK with the global supply of food & goods coming under pressure as countries struggle to return to normality.

I doubt we will leave the transition period without a deal with the EU even if it takes a few years. People have now seen how vulnerable society can be and won't want the threat of disruption again, which is a risk if there is no deal.

More people will wfh as employees and employers see its benefits. That means fewer offices (and probably fewer skyscrapers being built in London) and train companies will realise they can't charge extortionate fares for a rubbish service (hopefully!) as more people have an alternative to working in an office.

The freedoms we have lost will not easily be given back by the Government. Crime figures have gone down and, presumably, will continue to do so. What Government wouldn't like that regardless of civil liberties?

This is my take too. I think the housing market in cities will take longer to recover, offices will be downsized and developers will increasingly turn offices into flats. They can now convert the latter without needing planning permission which will undoubtedly lead to increasingly sub-standard living space.

As others have said, there will be huge fall out for high street retail as people have become even more dependent on home deliveries and will not like to go back to shopping in close proximity to others. Think it will take a long time for the hospitality sector to recover for the same reasons.

Although some people are making the effort to be civil and there is an outbreak of community solidarity, I feel that social distancing will lead to long term mutual distrust and increasing tensions between communities. I think countries will become more insular as people increasingly blame globalisation and 'foreigners' for the pandemic.

Climate change and other environmental concerns will play second fiddle to the need to get the economy back up and working. Lots of very bad decisions will be taken by governments in the name of rebuilding the economy. I don't feel very optimistic.

In 20 years time, Premier League clubs will be scrambling to sign a Brazilian striker called Covid, who wears the #19 shirt.
