Shutting off landline

Has anyone got any experience of going mobile only and dispensing with a fixed home landline? We are think of doing it now the mum in law has passed as she was really the only one who called us regularly on it. Has anyone found any downsides?

We gave up our landline when we went full fibre and haven't missed it in the slightest. Simple as that really.

I remember there used to be a requirement for a landline with Sky but I think that’s gone now.

We haven't had a landline for 10+ years now. Don't miss it at all.

Trying to convince my wife to get rid of the landline... she is very reluctant, but maybe having our hands forced as we got a letter from the carrier saying they are no longer going to support copper wire lines in our area.

Haven't quite worked out what that means so far.

Probably the same as here where you'll have full fibre and an internet phone if you want one.

We have also been told that it's going to be years before they lay fibre optic cables in our area. They are really going all in on 5G where we live.

Haven't had a landline for over ten years. Why on earth does anyone need one??

Got rid as soon as we got a full fibre connection. We didn't even bother to take up the phone option from the new network provider.

The only people who phoned us on the land line were helpful young Indians called Kevin who where concerned that there was a fault on our Microsoft computer. It was good sport. "Click on the Microsoft logo in the right hand corner of your screen sir". I could stretch things out for 20 minutes before asking "Is it near the little Apple that's up there?"

Seriously, you won't miss it.
