I see we're upping the ante by sending a second ship to the Gulf. Which means our entire Navy will now be down there.

What with limpet mines on Tankers, Uranium enrichment, sanctions and Iran and the US each vying for Alpha male I've-got-a-huge-member status its a concerning time. This seems to have escalation written all over it and the UK seems to be being sucked in.

We're also sending our Royal Navy reserve vessel. A rubber dinghy.

I expect this to escalate within the next 4 to 6 weeks or so into a full on global conflict.

Personally I would rather The UK and Iran dink it out and The US stay out of it.

The US would take a sledgehammer to crack a nut approach, which would only escalate things.

The UK are basically into protection (so far) and not aggression. A bit like fly swatting, but opening the window to let the fly escape first.

Tbf the US are broadly why we are in this mess. They’re itching for Iran to attack a ship with British connections, to pull us away from the European position on the nuclear deal and towards their own.

We’re being set up to have Iran attack British interests. That’s fairly obvious, and has been for a while. But not for any proxy purposes that we’ll be involved in.
