Yes exactly give the lad a chance he has hardly played any regular 1st team football for a while and will take some games to shake off the rustiness and bring back some sharpness to his game. That is why he has gone out on loan rather than remain with us.

Prefer to judge his performance at the end of the season and take into account how Sheffield Wednesday have performed as a team with him there.

We should have adequate cover at Striker with Tosun, Ayew and Benteke till the end of the season.

Sorloth looks good with his stats in a weaker league but i would of preferred to have seen how he would perform in the Championship to see what he is really made of. Not sure he has what it takes to be a success in the Premier League.

100%.

He needs a run of games before we can judge

Mid to lower half Premier League. That should be obvious.

He needs games and hopefully he’ll be able to recover some former ability. At the minute I would think that he would struggle to score regularly in League One. He hasn’t played football for years.

Do you still think it was a huge mistake letting him leave on loan?

Yes, of course we want him to do well. But it's a response to the posters on here going on about him being a better striker than Benteke. Yes, Benteke has been hopelessly out of form but no way is Wickham a better player.

Wickham's on the subs bench for today's home game against Reading.

Does not say much if he cant force his way into an inconsistent Wednesday side, we do need him to play consistently otherwise his loan has been a waste of time.

He is a far better player than Nuhiu, now they have a player sent and haven't scored. I thought Garry Monk has a slight idea

CW is glum he did not want this move and it shows.

Fifteen minutes of Connor as a sub will get you a goal or an assist, because he has the strikers natural instinct, but not the fitness.

Could well be the difference between staying up or relegation.

Its difficult to see how CB will get on the end of anything, it must be immensely frustrating for the players.

Think you’re overstating his ability somewhat there. His career stats certainly don’t back that up.

Cant see the fuss about him not starting today. Having started the game last weekend and then again midweek. It's all about getting minutes under his belt without flogging, what we know is a pretty injury prone player, half to death.
Still pretty early days for him over there. Though it looks like Wednesday are turning into a bit of a basket case at the minute.

All of this. He's getting a hell of a lot more minutes there than he would here, and he clearly needs them at this point in his career. Shame he's joined just as they seem to be imploding, though.

I certainly wasn't "condemning him". And yes, I do want him to do brilliantly.

But I was simply pointing out that, based on his record over the past 11 years or so, "brilliantly" is very unlikely to happen. And these regular suggestions that if we had kept him in the squad, he would have repaid us with regular goals over the next few months, are simply not borne out by the fact that he has a career record of 1 goal every 5 appearances

I quite like Wickham when hes on form but this does show how nonsensical the contract extension was. I seem to remember him being on around £60k/week, way above Championship level, and yet realistically that is probably his level now.

We have been overpaying too many players in our squad for ages now and its one of the major reasons for our issues now. It has to change.

Completely untrue. Had a thoroughly enjoyable loan spell last time round and his mrs is a huge Wednesday fan. He is one that pushed for the move.
