If wilf leaves then the strategy changes . As it stands that’s what will happen .

During the summer we failed to buy a striker and said we would address it in January.

January comes and we’ll be told it’s such a difficult market and we won’t sign a striker.

Repeat season after season.

We need at least one creative, attacking player - whether that’s a central striker or someone who can compete with Townsend.

Only 2 weeks to go before the new striker arrives
Are we even looking to bring one in ?
Do we start looking on the 30th of January ?
Can we afford to bring 1 in ?
Can we afford not to bring in a striker ?
Anyone got any suggestions on a realistic affordable striker ?

Surely we will not go another window without addressing this ?

Serious question... it seems everyone’s priority is a striker, over a winger. Why is that?

Ayew in great form and it seems Benteke is ready to jump in whenever Ayew falls off. Ayew hard work makes us tick.

Townsend, while a good player, seems to have dropped off form. Probably due to no competition for places. Imagine a winger in the Bolasie/Zaha creative mould that can work off Ayew.

Personally I think the priority goes in this order:

1. Right Back
2. Left back
3. Winger
4. Striker
5. Creative central midfielder (personally I don’t think we need one with Meyer and Camarasa, but Roy doesn’t seem to trust them. It’d have to be exactly the right man to get into the first 11.)

Agree there are other areas which need addressing, but goals are the missing ingredient in this team, as Batshuayi showed last season. Ayew may indeed be a man on form, but he's hardly prolific. Benteke is just plain frustrating and simply cannot be relied on and CW is a walking injury.

Our defence has been largely magnificent this year, but without a goal threat we're always going to be under pressure. Striker is still the (joint) number one priority for me, assuming Joel and PVA are due back soon. We have at least some scope for temporary cover at full-back but are woefully short up front.

Jordan Ayew has been fantastic but we have nothing else if anything should happen to him , if we only bring in 1 player it has to be a striker .

Ayew is doing well but a more clinical striker would no doubt improve us significantly.

Although the full back position, particularly the right should also be addressed. If we can keep the defence tight then survival shouldn't be an issue this year and that is always the priority. We need another right back and depending on seriousness of PVA and Schlupp's injuries, the performances of Jairo and/ or Mitchell on the left, we might need another player for there too.

We need a striker!! or two. Ayew and Bentecke couldn't hit a barn door with a bango. To make that work we have to have the right players/tactics to feed them! Otherwise it's pointless. When fully fit we have a decent defence but also need back ups for cover in times of injuries. I make that...

2 FBs to cover left/right.
Sadly it will never happen in this window, if ever!
