They will pay the full amount. Also will give undue further hurt to Sala’s family. They should of had some respect.

‘The forever a bluebird’ tripe just shows that clubs just pump out PR bullshit.

Have to wonder what Warnock's take on that situation is. I know the bloke loves to spin a line from time to time but you have to feel he was genuine in what he said about his feelings on the matter, but it seems the Cardiff hierarchy kind of threw him under the bus a bit with pulling this stunt of trying not to pay for Sala.

Glad common sense will prevail at least in a footballing sense. I'm sure none of this is any comfort or consequence at all to the Sala family mind you.

...and now FIFA say he was their player!

Their reputational damage is going to be huge though.

Who will want to sell players to Cardiff unless they get all the money up front in future?

But all those displays and emotional outpourings, surely those sensitive principality souls don't want the issue protracted any further? The whole saga of course providing them a perspective about life and money?

This tifo is a hell of a lot of effort on behalf of a Nantes player

According to the BBC they are still fighting this and will appeal to CAS to try and get it over-turned.

According to FIFA full report they are claiming he was not their player and want damages from Nantes! FIFA say the FAW had completed all the necessary paperwork less than 2 hours before the flight took off but it was therefore considered done.

Cardiff should be shamed for their actions over this. No dignity at all.

Had they not pumped out ‘forever a bluebird’ etc it wouldnt be as bad but all the faux tributes only to bring it down to ruthless business to attempt to wiggle out of something they dont want to pay. Sickening, Cardiff deserve to hated by the entire football world. They will definitely have an enemy in Nantes that is for sure.

He wouldnt have been on that plane unless you bought him you scumbags.

There's a lot of money at stake for zero return, or do Cardiff get something back beyond the moral high ground if they pay up without a fight?

Yeah sure he was the "oh what could've been" player who would've saved them by banging in several goals in the latter half of the season, and they fawned like he was one of them, until it came to the hard cash. *****.

That's surely the risk with any transfer isn't it? Is it any different for Nantes? Nantes have lost a player and he dies on his way BACK to the club that took him, and not been paid anything for it.

You sign a player and they get injured straight away and that's just shit luck. What happened here was far more than shit luck of course, but the fact remains, the player was theirs, and then the incident occured.

There's more than few people that have lost out in this sorry saga, and Cardiff are right at the bottom of the list.

(Let's be hones, they can only be haggling because they hadn't actually got the insurance sorted out for him or worse, were partly in the wrong for what happened so couldn't make a claim against it)

I wouldn't mind betting they were preparing to name him in their squad and play him. If he wasn't their player, why fly him back to Cardiff? Leave him in Nantes.

I suspect there are many clubs, apart from Cardiff themselves, who, if they found themselves in Cardiff's contractual position, would grasp the opportunity to try and save the cash, even if the chances of legal success are only modest

Back in the 70's Palace sold John "Yogi" Hughes to Sunderland. He suffered an unfortunate career ending injury just a few minutes into his debut. In a goodwill gesture and although not obliged to, Palace paid 50% of the transfer fee back to Sunderland!

Surely this is a technical question, black and white. There is a time when you officially change from one club to another. I didn’t understand why people are bringing morals into it.
