You do realise that the Human Rights Act is nothing to do with the EU - Leaving the EU will not affect our compliance with the Human Rights Act because it is an entirely separate legal entity.

The Convention was drafted by the Council of Europe after World War II - the impetus came from the British. Sir David Maxwell-Fyfe oversaw the drafting of the European Convention on Human Rights. It was designed to incorporate a traditional civil liberties approach to securing "effective political democracy", from the strong traditions of freedom and liberty in the United Kingdom. As a founding member of the Council of Europe, the UK acceded to the European Convention on Human Rights in March 1951. However it was not until the 1960s that British citizens were able to bring claims in the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR).

You will see that all of that predates the EU by several decades. People who do not like human rights because it stops them being complete bastards like to blame the EU - those foreigners telling what we can and cannot do. Ironic really as it was those British telling the foreigners what they can and cannot do in reality.

That Brexit will benefit all citizens of UK rather than the already wealthy. For similar misplaced beliefs see Thatcherism which promised that by freeing up markets and reducing tax there would be " a trickle down effect".

A friend pointed out this one; the Brexiteers obsess about Parliamentary sovereignty, but Parliament is massively in favour of Bremaining, so a Brexit vote will effectively over-rule Parliament's sovereignty.

It's a thread about hypocrisy. Ergo you want to leave but financially you're more than happy to benefit from the free movement of labour.

Leavers proclaiming how we should be confident in the ability of the UK to go it alone, yet think we are capable of being bullied by EU member states should we remain.

Learned Brexiteer economists banging on and on about the disaster that is the Euro and the impossibility of a "one size fits all interest policy" shared between economies that have completely different basis, whilst simultaneously lauding a one-size-fits-all interest rate and exchange rate policy for the UK despite the fact that exactly the same problem exists between different parts of the UK.

And following on from the above, the fact that the two most pro-EU parts of the UK; namely Scotland and London have diametrically opposed economies in terms of interest rates and exchange rates.

Vote in and parliament will take a shift to right, more restrictive immigration for those outside the EU to compensate for free movement.

Vote Brexit, likely parliament shift to the left, even Labour might look electable, far more immigration from outside the EU, we will be putting out the welcome carpet to kick start economy.

Erm....Part of the paradox is the white Christian bit as the assumption that this forms part of the definition of a racist is racist in itself.
