If the room was full of orphaned children on their annual day trip, and she was carrying an M60 machine gun in each arm and was high on miaow miaow, we’d rightfully be calling him a hero for stepping in and ushering her out

If your wife was at the top table, maybe she is the Chancellor or sitting beside him, would you be happy if a protestor was allowed to walk right up to her unchallenged?

Just because this protestor is a woman doesn’t mean nothing criminal was about to occur.

The scenario you’ve suggested is not an equal or equivalent situation at all.

Mark Fields actions do appear to be overly aggressive. If there was a genuine concern that she was a security risk and was going to cause harm, then I would say his reaction would/should have been more forceful, even to the point of taking her to the ground.

His actions came across as Tory toff irritated by some leftie type interrupting his dinner, nothing more nothing less and therefore his use of force was disproportionate.

However is it really a police matter, regarding the protest itself or the heavy handiness of Field himself?

And would you be happy if your missus or daughter were at the table when the intruder walked it and and no one did anything to stop them. She’s in the wrong for intruding and with that should come the consequences. You can’t take the risk these days, especially given the MP that got murdered up north a couple of years ago.

How have you determined she is a leftie? In a conversation where many are saying he was too agressive you suggest an option was to floor her?

So is what he did the middle ground between just stopping her with no contact and taking her down to the floor? Some might suggest that would be reasonable.

What I am saying is that if his actions were solely based on him making a quick risk assessment, deciding she was a threat, then he would have looked to protect himself while taking the action to protecting others. The way he acted IMO left him exposed and came across as more a person irritated than someone who was concerned about a security risk.

I however do not feel this needs any police involvement whatsoever despite my feeling his actions were unnecessarily aggressive.

Frogmarching her out is perfectly reasonable as she was not meant to be there, the only question mark is whether he needed to do so by her neck. It could be argued that was reasonable as the easiest way to subdue if she tried something. She may have gone being led out by the arm, she might have not.

Complete over-reaction but the left trying to get political gain from the situation.

You might be irritated by trespassers as well. And use force to remove them.

The only relevant question is was that force reasonable; and in the circumstances myself I don’t think it was overly-excessive.

That's exactly what would happen if they became abusive and rightly so.

She was clearly planning something as they had someone there to film it which is the footage the Guardian have.

Er yes, she was planning a protest - I don't think anyone is denying this. (And do you want to guess which Minister said in the House of Commons that women should be able to protest without fear of violence?)

I can't see why he had immediately to grab her rather than, for example, attempt to block her path. He went straight for an overly physical approach.

I'm sure the majority of the people on here slagging him off are anti-Tory and using it as a stick.
I must admit, I used to dislike Two Jags immensely, but he went up in my estimation when he chinned the mullet man who threw an egg at him from close range. Especially when Two Jags explained he was "defending himself".
The more these soap dodgers get a kicking the less appetite there will be in doing so.
Imagine if, seconds after some dope throws a milk shake over a politician such as Our Nige, a sword is brandished and the twat is immediately beheaded? Seeing the still smirking face bounce onto the ground will make people think twice about copying it.

Nah. the guy done good.
And I am sure he would have done so had it been a man - maybe requiring more force.

He should be applauded.
