Annoying negative episode this week, especially from the guy who isnít usually a regular, who spoke passionately and eloquently but was essentially speaking BBS-grade bullshit. Disappointed to draw against Everton, Dougies not doing his job, the club doesnít plan ahead, why donít we sign young players, sleep walking to relegation, Roy is so frustrated, Ayew is a championship player, all the standard cliches, while having zero evidence to support anything.

Bring Kevin Day back for some balance FFS!

I think a fair few of those points have evidence. It would be odd not to raise a number of them.

It also belies the fact that Parish is well versed in answering difficult questions -- he's had plenty of media training.

But if he's on the pod again, I'll post here.
Sorry you feel I am being unfair on you all, however the last few times SP has been on there has been an air of being in awe of him which has prevented JD following in on certain questions which could be persued.

The thing that bugged me was the: Zaha want's to leave, it's the club fault line.

Zaha signed a new contract last September, in January Batshuyai came in on loan, then in March he goes to the press talking about wanting Champions League football.

I'm a bit miffed at Zaha, but can understand where he's coming from. But I think it's bullshit to heap blame on the same club he was happy to sign a new contract with less than a year ago.

Also, while I think it's fair to criticise the club for not planning forward, to say the club has failed by not kicking on from previous mid table finishes is day dreaming nonsense.

There is very little else we can go. If we got relegated next season it is a **** up. If we get relegated 5 season from now can you really call it that? Which clubs can you compare us to that have really dealt wit their hand better?

[Other than that I enjoyed the Pod. Welcome back]

Didn't agree with the guy who was slating Ayew at the start, based on his performance on Saturday? He compared him to Wayne Andrews and Pablo Counago FFS (sure it was all in the name of 'banter' though).

With the exclusion of Ayew on the MOTM poll on Twitter, I do wonder whether some of their contributers miss the obvious on too many an occasion.

One thing I have consistently agreed though is their view that Meyer isn't good enough. Just for a bit of balance.

Congrats on the Athletic partnership.

I enjoyed it and was quite happy to hear the frustration which was well articulated. Really like kevin say so look forward to his return but would happily hear from that bloke again. End of last year it hot a little samey with everyone agreeing with each other. Nice to have a dissenting voice and didn't disagree with many of his points. Mindless optimism is just as annoying as unjustified cynicism.

Thought it was good. Tom is an excellent counter balance to Sellys. We need balance and opinion on these pods and he (Tom) made excellent points about the lack of planning and ridiculous failure to bring in a right back and forward when it was publically stated these were priorities. In the case of the right back it was truly astonishing we failed it bring in anyone....

Be good to have both on next week for a ding dong - With Kevin Day and Street as well I think. Well done guys.

exactly, and very one sided opinions with no counter. So because we didnt manage to sign a right back and striker, the staff are incompetent, the club doesnt plan anything, nobody cares and we are doomed. Maybe we were priced out because clubs knew we had just received £40m and needed a new RB. We were linked with Chalov, Morelo, James, Castagne etc so maybe there were issues with personal terms. Maybe the club does have a transfer strategy. I very much doubt that the staff of a premier league club know less about the business than the average fan.

Point is, nobody knows the answers to those things except the club and recycling lazy cliches to suit your agenda is not insight or analysis.

I enjoyed the realism on the podcast. Our transfer policy is shit/non-existent, Ayew is a championship player. No issues with the pod this week at all

Oh yeah, insinuation that Roy didn't want or rate Meyer and was forced to work with him when Parish signed him. Every cliche out of the negative BBS playbook, next time he's on he'll be questioning what Phil Alexander does, moaning about the drum and the AW toilets and making sarcastic comments about how 'at least the fan zone looks great'.

There were clearly massive issues in bringing in a right back. All of the above probably applied. But we had options over the 10 week period we either replaced AWB directly or we went with Joel Ward and went for a back up.. or we went for someone who could go toe to toe with Joel and fight it out... Or do nothing. We did nothing. If Joel is injured or exposed we have to play Martin Kelly who has not played there in what 2/3 years.

Completely agree. Much more enjoyable pod for me than usual and I've very much been able to relate to Tom's opinions on at least the last couple of pods he's been on. I don't see it as negative but realistic, well observed and representing the opinions of quite a few Palace fans, which is what the pod should be doing.

Others on the pod, JD and Enders for example, often state the need to be positive, which is their right to do but that generally sets the mood for the pod and personally I feel the pod often goes OTT on praise/expectations when we win or Frank de Boer joins etc. So when someone like Tom articulates perfectly reasonable concerns many people have, it seems out of kilter to the point where he essentially had to apologise for being negative, which I think is completely unnecessary. Then he jokingly had to ask for Jesse to back him up because the others seemed stunned into silence.

A previous poster has said they found this pod annoying but equally, as has been expressed earlier in this thread, a lot of people find Sellsy's repeated positivity/excuse-making which, in the face of sitting through nearly an entire season of dull and fruitless performances at Selhurst, is equally frustrating. As Pub Idol has said, we need balance and opposing opinions on the pod to represent everyone's opinions. Not just those who only want to hear about how great everything is or only those who want to hear how terrible everything is.

More of the same would be very welcome.

Maybe a better way to do it would be to mix up the guests so each episode has a negative and positive opinion that can be balanced and discussed, rather than one episode which is exclusively positive, one episode which is exclusively negative, etc.

Agree with all of that except the bit about the club doing nothing - we don't know that do we? For all we know everyone was working day and night to make things happen.

JD and Enders did attempt to counter but it probably went under the radar because their comments didn't really address the points being raised. E.g. "I like Jordan Ayew", "It's better to sign solid squad players than front load the squad with strikers"(?) and something along the lines of "I woke up on the positive side of the marital bed today and you must have woken up on the negative side" etc. It's not Tom's fault they didn't argue their points very well. Possibly because they could see where he was coming from.

I don't think Tom was claiming he knew what was happening. None of us do. He was using the facts we have to present a scenario that to me and I'm sure a few others could have happened. Kevin Day does this in nearly every pod.

Go back and listen to the podcast when FdB joined. That is an example where they did exactly what you're accusing them of doing on this one but the other way around. Everyone on the pod made all sorts of bold claims about how great it was going to be with very little applicable evidence and no dissenting voice about how risky the appointment might be. I found that far more grating to listen to and complaint-worthy than this but each to their own.
