Interesting you mention about post-university debt. For the OP example a young Dane moving to London would have no university debt to worry about (university is free here) - what happens to a young Brit moving elsewhere in Europe though? I know that you have to earn a certain amount in the UK before you start paying back your university debt - but what happens if that Brit moves to another European country to live/work and never to return, does the UK know how much they earn abroad in order to start repayments?

This is very true, depending on your industry/experience was hard to beat having work experience from London (strongly helped me get my job over here) - but in the area i work in allot of jobs have already moved from London to places like Amsterdam/Dublin/Frankfurt, because of Brexit concerns. One of our Danish graduates had mentioned he was looking towards London years back but if he was to leave would look at other European capitals now.

For the Brit i would definitely say go experience living/working abroad anywhere - the only issue now of course for Europe is that freedom of movement is being denied to them soon so they loose that flexibility to move live/study/work easily. Rather than have the time to compare working/living in different countries to their own, its now a ticking clock to make your decision on what European countries you want to be "locked into" now

I move to Norway in 2 weeks so will let you know how that goes. Would definitely recommend London to young people, 18+.

When I moved to the UAE it took me 7.5 AED to buy a pound. Now it takes 4.5 AED (The Drirham is dollar backed)
If you can get a job in a country with a strong currency its a good time to work abroad.

I know Brits that have moved to Canada with UK student debt. The debt does not go away but it becomes an honour system where the debtor is expected to report their income correctly. I suppose the UK authorities could ask the ex-student to verify their income but I don't know that they have the power to enforce a level of repayment.

Employees market, firms will have to start treating workers better to keep them if there is a post Brexit exodus of foreign nationals and educated Brits, some will see it as an opportunity.

Some might, though I suspect the number of firms that can substantially increase their payroll costs and remain viable is quite limited. They could increase their prices, but there is no guarantee that consumers will be willing, or able, to pay the higher prices. They could move their businesses to another country with a more plentiful supply of labour, or they could just shut down.

I'd recommend anyone to try to live abroad at some stage of their lives. Even for a short time.

What constitutes a 'hostile environment'?

I suspect this is an example of myopic spoilt millenial Western view of the world. People from all round the world, would rip your arm off (possibly literally) to be part of our 'hostile environment'.

So the question is would you recommend a 24 year old Brit with a degree and a sharp eye to stay in the UK or leave for pastures new?

I would
